Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

G'day trend setters

I am about to be connected to NBN . which im informed means my net connection/ modem will
cease .
Telstra insists that I have to have a new 24 month plan for something I already have . I have refused to sign up
to a new plan. as it would raise my current . 2 mobil phones , home net 25 GIG , home phone for $160 a month.
to $200 . (if my job goes down im stuck paying24 months for something I can't afford)
short term i'll tether my pc to my phone . but it's not a long term option .
any ideas , what do you do ?

My wife and I have our mobiles on a Telstra business mobile phone plan. Our internet (NBN) and NBN phone is with Optus (we could use our existing Uniden cordless) which is the 200G $99 plan 50mb down 25mb up. Our TV is Austar. Coffs Harbour area.

Internet is Telstra unlimited for $80 iirc. Was on a lower plan but my two teenage sons kept maxing it out, now they chip in the difference for the larger plan.

Mobile is Vodafone pre-paid on a 365 day plan. I still have most of the credit left after the 12 months, so I spend about $8-$12 a year on a mobile service. :)
My mobile phone is about five years old and was the cheapest one I could find at the time, I think it cost $20. :D

I have a combined land line and mobile plan for my office both deals done separate to each other but because they both exist a discount applies to each..

Mobile .. 2.5 G of net $ 35.00 per month all calls to any number in Australia, both land line and mobile ... actual cost is $ 45.00 but a $10.00 discount because of the land line.

Land Line 12 G of net, $45.00 per month all land line calls free, mobile calls limited to $ 2.00 per call ... actual cost $ 60.00 but with discount $ 45.00.

Both with Optus ...

There should be a variety of NBN plans available - on the 24 month thing; if your job goes down you've got bigger worries than if you're committed to (at most) $4800 on a phone contract (and many providers have hardship provisions in their break terms).

Even still, there are a variety of plans around - I've just used the Fairfax search and there are plenty of options. Customise to suit and away you go.

EDIT - forgot the link: http://broadband.smh.com.au/Broadband/SearchResults?t=3a72c8d0-85eb-4ca8-81dc-131969829f64

I wouldn't get too hung up on bundling all of the mobiles in with the phone/net; that's a way of restricting your choices that forces you to pay more. There are cheap mobile plans out there and there are cheap data/landline deals but very few cheap all-up bundles.

Psst: you'll always get best results on the net with a nice, modern, Windows 8.1 machine too. ;)

I have naked dsl with iinet, 250G $69.
They have some variations on NBN, so also do TPG.
I wouldn't use Telstra if they were the only telco available.
