    ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. Well, we have all sorts of other threads about "What Are You ... ? " so why not drinking? Alcoholic or non alcoholic, doesn't matter, tell us all your favourite imbibe, or one that you just thought to try.

I'll start ;-)

I've taken to experimenting with "old fashioneds". I *like* scotch, or even Hamerican and Canuck whuskeys, so I thought I'd try some Mad Men type of old fashioneds. I've tried the single malt route, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Talisker, Laphroig, the Islay malts I that like. I tried the 2 kinds of Maccallan I have, I tried Johnny Walker Red & Black, and I tried the only Jack Daniels I have in my grog cupboard, good 'ole No. 7, sour mash whuskey.

FYI an old fashioned is made by using a little bit of sugar water, some Angastura bitters, agitate in ice, strain into an old fashioned whiskey glass, pouring over a big ice cube, and add a bit more hard liquor. All up you should be using about 40 ml. for the mix and 20 ml. for the last add. If it sounds alcoholic, it bloody is. It's not a drink that I'd have too many in a night (one's enough for me atm). But it's a very interesting take on a different whisky drink.

So, there you go. NY's take on a very different way (for me!) to enjoy my nightly scotch, which is usually straight up, or with a little ice and a dash of H2O.

Home brewed all grain Kolsch with golden ale hop profile.

Nice! I hope you gain success with that. Nothing like a successful home brew, 30 long neck bottles in storage, and the 2 weeks wait time for the secondary fermentation can seem too long before you can whack one in the fridge for a taste test the next day.

I was dry for 4 months but the summer heat beat me.
Coopers clear ,red , green and pilsener.
Good choice tb, Coopers is great! My favourite Coopers is Sparkling Ale. I home brewed for 30+ years mostly using Coopers cans (of wort!), and now I buy the occasional slab of Sparkling Ale. Matter of fact that's my Christmas special beer this year, that and a half doz. of Guinness cans, not bottles. The cans give a more Guiness like head than the bottles, imo.

Tooheys Old. I just love stout and Guinness.
Red wine with dinner.

I also like the odd cappuccino from a good coffee shop.

I jest, Speyside malts are good, Aberlour, Glenlivet, The Maccallan, Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, etc. And not forgetting the single malt most Australians could name, Glen Fiddich.
Matter of fact, I've yet to taste any varietal single malt that I don't like.
that usually equates to waking up on the kitchen floor .
and then being stood in the corner all the next day by mrs tb
tb, it's all in the sipping mate, not the quaffing.

There's a microbrewery down in Erina that I've been meaning to get to. Open tomorrow, so I might add a carton of their wheat beer, called Hefeweizen, to my Christmas cheer.
When we stayed in Port Vila last year we were at The Grand Hotel (the old Sebel, now owned by the Govt. of Vanuatu, and it's the local Casino as well, 3 stars at best :cool: ) and there was a microbrewery over the road. They also served up a pretty good pizza. We lunched and dined there quite a few times, and luckily it was just a short stagger over the road to the hotel, where a hangover usually awaited. :(
Craft Brews are great, and it's good to see that Australia is embracing this trend over the last 20 or so years. :)

Been drinking Chang's here in Thailand. Good for refreshing oneself after a sweaty stroll through a palace, temple or market.

You can get Chang in Dan Murphys and Leo and Singha in Aldi. All nice beer.

TBH, it's not special beer - it's Yet Another Bog Standard Domestic Lager, it's just *their* YABSDL; it's cheap, it's everywhere and its refreshing but not particularly interesting or sophisticated. Thai VB, basically.

At home in Oz I tend to go Coopers Pale or Squires 150 Lashes, unless I find something interesting. There are loads of great craft breweries popping up down here (inner west) so there are lots of fun things on tap at the locals.

I've been to Six String - their stuff is pretty decent!
