From the glory days of Brazilian club football. Week 10 from Stage One of the Carioca championship in 1968 with about 149,000 in attendance.
There were several tournaments Brazilian clubs had to take part in- there was the state leagues, the post-season cup in Rio, and then the national competitions including the Taa do Brasil (a European Cup kind of tournament with the winners of each state league) and the Taa de Prata (a national "super league" with clubs from 7 states).
The Carioca league only had clubs from the city of Rio de Janeiro, and was dominated by six clubs- the "big four" of Flamengo, Fluminense, Botafogo and Vasco da Gama, as well as Bangu and America who were usually contenders but rarely won anything. Botafogo was then the dominant player in Rio, the era of Garrincha and Didi was to give way to the era of Jairzinho and Gerson, two stars of the 1970 World Cup triumph, as well as Paulo Cesar Caju. Botafogo were coached by Mario Zagallo, who'd played for them on the left wing and coached Brazil in 1970... and 1998!
Vasco Da Gama on the other hand had re-emerged as contenders after nearly a decade of non-achievement after the emergence of Danilo Menezes in midfield. They were coached by Paulinho de Almeida.

Vasco Da Gama-
Pedro Paulo;
Ferreira, Brito, Fontana, Lourival;
Bugle, Danilo Menezes;
Nado, Bianchini, Ney, Silvinho
Subs: Sergio, Paulo Dias
Botafogo-

Vasco won 2-0 with goals from Bugle and Ney- Roberto and Ney were the two leading scorers in the Carioca that year, while Jairzinho and Gerson also scored their fair share for Botafogo.
Vasco finished the first stage with 20 points, Botafogo with 18. But in the eight-team second stage, Botafogo blitzed through by winning all seven games, and claiming a fourth state title in eight seasons.
