Thanks for the explanation

but are you serious regarding the word "affectionate" in combination with Germans?

I would imagine so - the English have no reason to be bitter at Germany for anything really.....  :innocent:

(I kid - like Andrew said, it's the French that we have to team up against.  Amazing country they've got - the only problem is that it's full of French)

Absolutely, no Germans ever did anything bad to me. You are football rivals but not loathed in the same way that the French are (by just about everyone)

Burnley FC are in with a shout of a European spot next season, provided Fulham FC win the Europa League.

Despite being relegated from the Premier League last Sunday after losing 4-0 at home to Liverpool, the Clarets could be competing in Europe next season.

With Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea all set to qualify for European competition through their league standing, this leaves Fulham and Burnley next to qualify for the Europa League through their places in the Fair Play League.

Fulham are still involved in Europes second-tier competition, playing the second leg of their semi-final tie tonight.

Should the Cottagers go on to lift the trophy they will return as holders next year relinquishing their qualifying place in the Fair Play League to Burnley.

Clarets boss Brian Laws believes it would be a huge boost to the club given this seasons dejection but is not taking anything for granted.

He said: "It would obviously be nice if that actually happened. However, there's a lot of questions to be answered first and that's how Fulham do.

"We'll be cheering them on hoping that they win the competition and that gives us a chance to come through the back door.

"If that happens it would be fantastic for the town. It'll give us a big lift after coming out of the Premier League."

To all Sydney based Fulham fans, a venue for viewing the final has been arranged!

We will be watching it at The Sports Theatre bar in Star City Casino, Sydney. Kick off is 4.45am thursday morning, but most fans will be getting there fairly early for some meeting/nerve settling beers. Come watch history in the making with your fellow Black'n'White army! Bring your scarves, colours and most importantly, Singing voices! COYW!!!

Fulham get done in the last few minutes of extra time. Hard lines.

Excellent game of football but probably the deserved result in the end.

Agree, Madrid deserved to win and in Aguero(sp) had easily the best player on the pitch.

Whilst Baird is a lumbering donkey, very few full backs would have dealt with him any better.

When your team gives 100%, sticks to the tactical plan like glue but gets beaten, you cant really argue.

Game was played in the right spirit, none of the antics seen from Manure/Chavs that just embarrass the game.

Next seasons expectations are unchanged. 4th bottom by 1 goal is minimum, anything else a pure bonus.
