Yeah they won the toilet seat, but next seasons not looking too good for them at present - losing bridge, musialik and durrante are three of their better players... i wonder what sort of replacements they are getting? They might struggle next season and in Asia  :vhappy: :vhappy: :vhappy:

I agree with you NS.

Although I must admit, I thought the same thing before V3 kicked off. I thought they'd miss the finals for sure.

Hopefully next season they will.

i said in another thread they are getting Zdrilic and offering Jardel a new deal. to top that off they might get the entire Wellington Phoenix backline of 07-08. and im sure theres a new deal in there for Drovandi as well

IMO the only big loss was Carle from last year, you guys obviously had the depth in Bridge,Musialik etc but they are gone as well as Durante. If anymore leave that were integral to this season it will be a massive dent.
I think if Griffo scores a bundle in Japan he wont be back either.

Funny thing is griffo is on a contract and cant stay in Japan.

Thomas, you know as well as anyone that a contract in Football means nothing.

If he was offered 600-700K in Japan, he would accept it in a heartbeat and who could blame him.

Of course the new club would have to pay a transfer fee, but with a lack of money in our league, this is not an issue.

Be realistic sunshine.

I think Milton was a big loss for the scum season just gone along with Carle.

I don't know how they will replace monkey boy, Bridge and Durante. There's no Aus players of that calibre off contract and there's only four visa players allowed, so it's a toughie for them.

Can't see them making the four unless they get a couple of "Freds" from offshore.

Thomas, I appreciate your attempt at positivity, but I'd be more than a little concerned if I were you... C'mon, Bridge, Durante, Stuey and Griffiths with CON the man who forced Jardel on you at the helm, bothering at GVE undoubtedly re all his selections...?? Mother of god...Going to need some pretty serious bolstering.

he may be on contract but he has a "get out" clause if he wants to go overseas

.........and if the offer is enough, he has the right to buy out the remaining year of his contract if he wants to.

Jets problem at the moment is that they are not in any contract negotiations with players coming off contracts at other clubs (that we know of anyway).  A lot of the better players have already signed for other clubs, only leaving the rejects, and now that GCG and NT have been told to wait till V5 those players who were thinking of going there may well be looking at Newcastle as an option?

TBH Newcastle have a good coach, a good keeper and a good striker (unless he gets an overseas offer)......but they need to fill those holes and there's not a lot of options in Australia left?

Perth are also not doing much in the tranfer market, considering their season was over a long time ago that's disappointing if your a glory fan.

I think they can't get around the fact that their entire season rested on having the best keeper in the comp (he shaded Danny simply for the consistency and maturity that he showed through the season, and his shotstopping was obviously amazing think back to Aloisis header) and the best striker too.

Having the best keeper in the comp doesnt help much if one of the better central defenders isnt replaced by someone similarly talented. They didnt concede many goals, but they sure didnt score many either. A team that scores the fewest goals in the league but which has the leading goalscorer has a serious vulnerability if for whatever reason hes off form or injured, whos going to pop in with the full dozen goals they need simply to keep them competitive?

On the other hand, weve got players going but weve got replacements coming in. I wouldnt mind seeing a specialist wide defender or two, but thats really about it. All the while theres Juninho talk and Dwight talk, and really theyd be bonuses more than essential.

I think weve got a team that can win the league again, I'm not sure they have a team that can win the grand final again.

It will be interesting to see the scums recruiting. With con not allowing service agreements, he is asking dutchy to perform miracles every season. Dutchy is a good coach, but as soon as he fails on a miracle he will be shown the door. Then he will get a gig, at another club, and will be hard to stop if given his way by the board.

1. Adam Griffiths is a good CB.
2. Its gonna be hell next season, f**kin Covic, both Griffiths, North etc

actually agree with thomas here - covic, north, griffiths, thompson and elrich is a formidable backline

however as dibo said one injury and they are screwed

Pasfield

Milicic
Zdrilic
