looks like the big fella is heading over to be understudy to buffon

not sure if this is a good move as he needs to be playing constantly for him to be effective in our world cup campaign

it has shown in the past that he is just rubbish if he is not playing week in week out

yeah he could probably get a start for most other teams in the world. why would he bother going to a club to be understudy to a GK who is easily top 3 in the world. Australia wont have a starting GK in any of the major European leagues if he does. But I guess he is also looking to wind it down

Don't know that he is looking to wind down...all he has said seems to indicate he wants to secure good football until South Africa. Players can say one thing until $ dictate another thing though - read current Sydney FC striker.

i dont think he'll go. southgate seems pretty keen to keep him. though if he does , i hope its fiorentina and not juve

Id rather he went to Juve, cos I dont think he will do the job for us in 2010. Id rather see one of the younger keepers getting 1st team football step up.

i have two mixed thoughts on this.
postive
he will be coached by a good goalkeeper trainer, and arguably 1 of the best keepers around (Buffon)
negative
he will get no game time
i reckon he will stay at middlesbrough because southgate put in a bid for him and he will get game time

well, he is being granted leave from the socceroos to continue his negotiations with other clubs

don't think there is a hope in hell he will be at boro next season
