ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Rumours on transfers

Impressive work WB! Do you know the facts behind Rogic's current situation? If he was to sign for an EPL team, say for $10 million (keeping things nice and simple), what, if anything, would CCM get?
Thanks Atomic. As far as I can remember, Rogic was only signed with us for one season, so we would only be entitled to 10% of the solidarity contribution. If Celtic received $10 million up front for him, the solidarity contribution would be $500,000, so we would only be entitled to $50,000. Celtic would keep a big chunk of it, around $150,000 I think, and the rest would be divided amongst his junior clubs, so according to Wikipedia Belconnen, ANU, and Tuggeranong would all get a cut. It's a similar situation for Mooy, so Bolton, St Mirren, and Wanderers would all get a small share of 5% of whatever fee Man City receive for him.

It isn't much, but it shows the value of developing your own players at academy level. In theory, if someone like Trent Buhagiar went to Europe in a couple of years at the end of his contract, we wouldn't get anything for him up front (and the club's Facebook page would explode with angry comments). If he made some sensible moves like Maty did to progressively bigger leagues, we could earn around 5% of each transfer fee. So if we produce enough Buhagiars, Binghams, Roses, Aminis, Dukes, Sainsburys, Ryans, Rogics, Caceres, Fitzgeralds, etc., we will keep getting small fees every time they get transferred. Over time, and with enough Mariners products floating around world football, we could potentially earn enough to make the academy self-sustaining. The only thing is we get nothing if they move from club to club on a free, so Amini for example hasn't earned us anything yet!

And if Sydney get $1 million for Danny, then Sydney should set aside $50,000 (5%) for solidarity contribution. I think we had Danny for four years before his 23rd birthday, so we should get 40% of that ($20,000), and the rest of the money would go to Bonnyrigg and Parramatta Power. Since Parramatta folded I think the share that they would be owed would go to the FFA.

I presume this is separate to a specific sell on clause? Did Rogic's transfer include a sell on clause?
Yep, they're separate. We can include a sell-on clause when we transfer a player, which could be anything from 5% to 50%, depending on how hard we negotiate. The sell-on clause is great when someone like Maty makes a big move, but it's useless when someone moves on at the end of their contract (like Amini from Dortmund) or for any subsequent transfers (like Maty from Valencia to Brighton). The solidarity contribution is run by FIFA, so it means we get some compensation, even years later, when players we developed get a transfer. Though the downside is FIFA isn't interested in enforcing its own rules, so there's no guarantee of getting what you're entitled to.

No idea if we included a sell-on clause for Rogic, but hopefully we did! These things tend to come out when players actually move, but maybe someone else remembers from the time?

I recall Rogic's sell on clause was 20% (thanks Arnie!). Does signing a new contract with Celtic affect that?

I think the agreement between us and Celtic is independent of any contract between Celtic and Rogic, but I'm not certain. A 20% sell on clause could be a nice earner for us, though some clubs deliberately structure their transfers to get around them, so there's no guarantee we'd get $2 million from a $10 million transfer.

Retre reported to SFC along with super coach assistant Moss.
Apologies, just read previous post in Aus Football thread.

The 20% sell on for rogic was only valid until the end of the upcoming transfer window as I understand it.

Hopefully someone of decent size or wealth comes in for 8-10mill upfront.... Southampton, and then by default Liverpool? Somewhere in Germany?
I guess the problem the confeds cup has shown is you can pressure him and mooy out of the game

There are Kye Rowles to the Mariners whispers. 19 today. 6' 1" central defender with the U17 team. Contracted with Roar for another year - played as LB with Roar in a couple of games in the ACL

Most unreliable source, a poster on 442 implys Kye Rowles might be coming our way.
Under 20 young Socceroo Centre back would be 18/19 years old
But is on a 2 yr contract at roar so would have to be released which would seem unlikely

On the Mickey Neill thread

Understand they have a player coming from the roar of much higher pedigree

Everything I see says CB, OK played there in ACL interesting

Against Muangthong he was out of his depth. He was deployed at left back so if recruited there that is a big mistake. As a back up centre back he isn't too bad.

Very disappointing if true. Still has a year at at Roar indicates he is not wanted there so why would we want him. What is the point of having an Academy in place when you give kids from else where a go.
I have watched him in NYL nothing outstanding or better then what we have. Should be giving Papas or Whyte an opportunity.

Yes - it isn't a thrilling rumour - but that is all it is at the moment. The other rumour, along with Daniel De Silva in January was Giancarlo Gallifuoco who is currently at Torquay United.

I am assuming it is not a rumour but fact, straight from the horses mouth, he was at youth team training last week I am lead to believe.
