ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

At the end of the day we should have had the penalty. That said - we really didn't do enough (with the exception of BK) to deserve a point. TBH we should be thankful that our GD different take a big hit.

I honestly believe that on our day (with a full fit squad) we can match anyone. Yesterday was not that day - two of our foreign contingent missing and a number of other players having their off day together didn't help. But we move on and need to make sure that WSW continue their woes.

I feel like the idea of VAR is fine. The implementation we have, however, is far from it - and it sits somewhere between incompetent and dodgy af.
See if it's going to have a flawed implementation like it does I'd rather put up with a blind ref not seeing it and not bother knowing there's a man in a box there.

Even worse is that I consider Strebre to be arguably the best ref in the 13 years of HAL history but he didn't pick up an obvious stomp?

CENTRAL COAST

SCOREBOARD: lost to Melbourne City 0-1

WHAT WENT RIGHT?

City’s wastefulness notwithstanding, Central Coast is looking more defensively resolute as every week goes by. For this week at least, Ben Kennedy was a big part of that, with the goalkeeper making some fine saves in the first half to help keep his side on level-pegging. Wout Brama was again excellent in midfield, shouldering the burden in the centre of the park with Tom Hiariej out.

WHAT WENT WRONG?

Just not enough enterprise heading into attack to cause City’s defence too many headaches. Funnily enough the visitor’s brightest patch was the 13 minutes preceding City’s goal, as Andrew Hoole and Connor Pain started to get into the contest and push the host’s defensive line back, but it didn’t last long enough to ultimately impact the scoreline. The Mariners would also be bemoaning the VAR’s decision not to intervene when it appeared Hoole had cause for a penalty shout late in the second half after having his foot trodden on by Iacopo La Rocca.

COMING UP: v Western Sydney, Central Coast Stadium (Saturday night)

SELECTION TABLE

Coach Paul Okon said Hiariej hurt himself at training on Saturday and so it was decided not to take him to Melbourne. The view was to not risk him so he would, 1) not aggravate the injury further and, 2) give him every chance to play Western Sydney at home on Saturday. But Okon said a couple more days would be needed to determine whether or not the Dutchman will be fit. In more positive news, the coach was adamant striker Asdrubal would be fit to return against the Wanderers after completing a full week of training. Fullback Storm Roux is also a chance to return after almost six weeks out with an ankle injury, but Okon was less effusive in his enthusiasm that the New Zealand international would be back this week.
