    ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

    If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

    ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

LOL quality topic.

<!-- boring explanation -->
It's not so much about 'enforced positivity' - just trying a few different settings to see what works best. One thought behind not allowing the negative vote is because people were just clicking it and then leaving it at that. If someone disagrees with a post, (IMO) it would be better to post a reply with an explanation rather than just clicking a button. That should at least give the person an idea of why their post got negative votes, and also move the discussion along. Also, quite a few posts were getting negative votes simply because they contained bad news... e.g. someone copy/pastes a news story about something they don't like and gets voted down because of it.

I guess it then comes down to working out what the purpose of the button is in the first place. At the moment the button is a bit pointless. A bit like the 'like' button on Facebook. There are some things being worked on (but put on hold for the moment in favour of actual work... :() that should put the post ratings to use. We can look at it then and see if the dislike/negative button should make a comeback or not. It's easy enough to change back, so don't panic!

And while were at it, the limit of 1 negative vote per day is draconian. I should be able to tell more than 1 person a day that they suck

Ooh, I didn't even realise this was the case, I guess there was a default setting somewhere for this or maybe I stuffed something up but didn't intentionally set it up to only allow 1 negative vote per day. I'll look into it if we put the negative voting option back on.

Glad to see everyone agrees!

What, no negative votes? ;)

Think of it like on that show about Ripley's Believe It or Not, I think it is called "Ripley's Believe It or Not". After each segment they say "Believe it.... or not", but sometimes they don't give you the option, they just say "Believe it...."
