Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Clubs reaction to draw
2/05/2008 6:07:46 PM

Adelaide United

"There was an enormous response to the match at the Adelaide Oval last year and it was great, both for the game in South Australia and Adelaide United, in holding such a successful event and achieving an all-time record attendance for a soccer match in South Australia," Adelaide United CEO Sam Ciccarello said in response to the Round 18 clash with Sydney FC at Adelaide Oval.

"From the success of that game there has been a lot of interest in playing another blockbuster, and although Hindmarsh Stadium is one of the best boutique stadiums in Australia, for the players and fans we think it is important to have a blockbuster in the heart of the city."

"The Adelaide sporting public voted with their feet, as over 25,000 attended last years blockbuster against Sydney FC, which proves that there is growing interest in the Hyundai A-League and the Adelaide United Football Club."

"Every game is going to be hard regardless of who and where you play. Going to the Adelaide Oval to take on Sydney FC again will be another massive game that I'm sure will attract plenty of interest, so that will be one to look forward to," said Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar. "It's unfortunate that we have to travel on Christmas Day but sometimes that's just how the draw goes."

Central Coast Mariners  :pirashoot: :pirashoot:

"Full credit to Football Federation Australia, we believe that they have produced the best Hyundai A-League draw since the competition's inception, one that caters to supporters of all ages and one that provides us with virtually no headaches from a football operations perspective," said Mariners executive chairman   :innocent: Lyall Gorman.

"We're now well and truly counting the days until we begin our premiership defence and we're content that this draw provides us with the maximum opportunity to achieve on and off the pitch."

Melbourne Victory

"We're happy with the draw. It offers us four home games in the first seven, and will have minimal clashes with the AFL fixture," said Victory football operations manager Gary Cole.
"While we have a tough run through the middle of the season with back-to-back away games against Wellington and Perth, we finish the year off with five of the last seven games at home, which will be good for the squad."
"It is also terrific for the club to be able to host four blockbuster games at the Telstra Dome this season. The Sydney and Adelaide rivalries are great for the city and the code, and it's wonderful to be able to showcase these games to the Melbourne Victory members and fans."

"The implementation of the FIFA breaks is also a positive one, enabling those players on international duties not to miss Hyundai A-League games, allowing us to put the best side on the pitch more often."
"Overall, we believe the draw is a fair and reasonable and we're looking forward to kicking off in August."

Newcastle Jets  :vomit:

"Certainly they're both big, blockbuster games, which will leave the Jets supporters salivating, I'm sure," said Jets CEO John Tsatsimas of the EnergyAustralia games against Central Coast Mariners and Sydney FC in Rounds 1 and 4 respectively.

"We're excited about the Grand Final rematch on the opening day of the season, and we look forward to seeing everyone out there supporting the Newcastle Jets as we embark on our title defence."

"Playing our rivals straight away doesn't leave our supporters waiting long to attend the blockbuster matches, which certainly makes the draw an exciting one for us."

Perth Glory
"We are confident that coach Dave Mitchell has put together a group of players who are capable of handling and overcoming any challenges thrown at them," Glory CEO [glow=red,2,300]Scott Gooch [/glow] said.
"We listened to what our members and fans have been saying about match times and are pleased that our requests to the FFA have been taken into account."

"The mid-afternoon and the early evening time slot is a perfect opportunity for families to be able to enjoy a great game of football."

Wellington Phoenix

"It was an important consideration for us that we make it easier for parents to bring their kids to a Phoenix football game. Sunday afternoons are a perfect opportunity for families to watch the Phoenix at Westpac Stadium and to enjoy the atmosphere," said Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata.
"But there are two games on a Friday evening and another on a Saturday evening, so there's something for all supporters."

"The FFA have developed a really good draw because no club is spending lengthy periods away from home or, indeed, at home. That allows interest and momentum to be sustained throughout the season, which wasn't quite the case last year when, for example, we were on the road for three weeks in a row."
