ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Cap space isn't really your problem, the money to actually spend is.

Correct ... it does little for the Mariners or for other cash strapped clubs. More for some clubs with initials SFC and MV

FFA have confirmed that no there is no increase over the 23 squad - 25 would have helped along with this change.

Clearly yes its going to help the likes of us more.  But that being said you don't have to spend it on 3 players, if there was someone you were really keen on keeping you'd at least have a shot this way.

I can live with it being still NYL, because there are some other reasons for not changing the squad total (stuff like that would change the average wage etc. quite a bit.... if your squad went up to 25 but you weren't obliged to use this part, which you're not, it would make a difference)

What I would like to see (and not sure if its possible) is if you could offer people longer deals (for example a 5year or such), with the first year or two or even three being in NYL, and upgrades into a full senior contract later on.  This would make a big difference to protecting players and gaining value from potential transfer fees, and providing some stability across youth teams/senior teams.

good point but missing the point of where the reason for the change is coming from.
From the comments Ive read it is to encourage the ALeague teams to have on their books these type of player and to use them as apposed to importing lower grade players.
