Boogs leaves for Pissant Town

Sooo kids,
As reported, Boogs is leaving us at the end of the season to join Adelaide

I think this is going to be a great loss for us as he's been pretty strong and consistent all season. Whats everyones thoughts on this???

Might I add... is quite good timing to release this AFTER we just played them last weekend too  :-\

In saying that, although disappointed... I've got no qualms with him going and wish him all the best. He obviously thinks it'll better his career or needs a change of scenery. I can't honestly see him doing the same as Aloi$i did after he leaves.

that complaint would be valid if they were being signed for the same cash. i seriously doubt they're on the same money, so one fits much more easily in the cap than the other.

Whilst I like Boogs and he has done a great job for us this season, WTF do Adelaide need yet another defender?

Sherlock can easily take over the extra CB role (can he play RB too?)

After the patience the Mariners showed him during his long struggle with illness, and with him now in good form, both in defence and attack, I am rather disappointed.

But that's football. No player is bigger than the club.

Shame it will mean having to rebuild the defence, just as it has become rock solid.

Natural RB with speed to attack Like Heff woukd be awesome, I think they have been trying to develop Porter? Elrich in this regard this year - but hasn't taken.

Sad to see Boogs go, very very solid defender.
But as someone else said he is replaceable I think.

Still not sure why Adelaide...

I personally think Sherlock may well be the man for the job.
Inexpensive (so we can spend the money on a striker please!) decent height wise to help replace Boogs aerially, better speed, though thats no biggy.

As to some of the Porter whingers...
Porter is still only 22, very young and has developed very well in the last three seasons - imo he thoroughly deserves his resigning into the squad and I look forward to sometime in the next three years when he will truly start to come into his own.

If we had not resigned him, we would have lost him.

I want world beaters too, but some people are just far too hasty and unrealistic in their expectations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Huke and Pedj both play right back? With Crowell in DM, either of these two could probably slot back in there

from memory the first time I saw Pedj play for us was in Canberra and he played at the back on the right. Big loss but I think defensively we will cover it. I would say well be a bit more active in the market now though.

Very sad to see him leave as he has finally fulfilled his potential this year.

Wouldn't mind Ruden coming back the other way.

As for Porter he is a good (and cheap) squad player and is adaptable and does deserve a spot.

Obviously we need a specialist right back next season unless Wilko switchs to RB.
