ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

ALM VS Roar

He left us as a big fish in a little pond.
He was never ever not even close to a big fish.
He was a raw footballer with some very impressive natural physical ability. A half decent football club took a punt on him to try and develop him as a footballer. Got found out almost immediately in Germany, has returned as a player who clearly hasn’t improved as footballer and just isn’t upto it. We have academy boys coming through who have 10 fold the technical ability he does. Imo, he’s now holding back Duarte’s development. ESPECIALLY as the only player we’ve ever paid a transfer fee for and one of our highest earners. Yes, we didn’t create a whole lot for our strikers this year. But you cannot say he didn’t have ample clear chances to score. He ain’t it and we need to move on. I don’t see any other aleague side picking him up either.

confirmed?
No, Jacko confirmed 2 things tonight. Mike is flying over to hash things out with him. And “people behind the scenes are working very hard to secure the future of the club”. He yet again confirmed he is lining up signings for when he is finally given the parameters of what he can work with next season. My feeling from all of this is, Jacko wants to stay but wants things to be done properly. His talks with mike can easily go south and he walks, or someone buys the club. I think we all know what is more likely….

Me thinks a large part of MC's issues are the lack of communications coming out of APL.

Is for example Silver Lake and investor or creditor now.

Why is ch 10 so unwilling to promote the Aleague.

APL are paying around half a million and expect two teams and a academy and 2.5 million salary to just the men's team.

And that was Charlesworth’s fault how, exactly?
For being too much of a pussy to risk signing Balard to a 5 year contract once he turned 18. Nizzy I can understand, bro's short its a risk.

Since his move to the Netherlands, Australian midfielder Max Balard has impressed for his NAC Breda side in the Eredivisie and has earned the praises of many fans and pundits. He has started and played EVERY minute for the club in the Dutch top tier
🇳🇱

Dutch football reporter Joost Blaauwhof (from Voetbal International) described Balard as one of the best players for Breda this campaign:
👇

"Max has been terrific for NAC," Blaauwhof said.
"He came in as an unknown signing, but from day one he has been a perfect match with the team and manager. He can play in different roles, but always plays as a great pivot.
"He reads the game, a quick scanner on and off the ball. His feeling for pressing is incredible, lots of interceptions. He's probably going to be in a Top 5 league next season. Some clubs are monitoring his availability, but NAC will ask for a record fee (4/5 mln€). It's crazy that he’s still waiting for a call up for the Socceroos, because he is one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie.
"Everyone at NAC is enjoying him. He's a very clever guy who’s working hard. Australian Kanté is his nickname. He’s a key player for NAC and one of the main reasons for the sensational start of the season."

Ah yes the club owner (not the sporting director or head coach) should have awarded the player a 5 year contract to a player before he even arrived at the club. A contract which would have expired at the same time he made his eventual move anyway. Cool cool cool cool I definitely see your logic.

Before this season, we had not been signing players for more then 2 years.

Balard came to the club in 2018, once he made his debut in 2021 we should have offered him a bigger contract. Especially since he's multi lingual and he's got EU passport.

"Although Max is contracted for another year on the Coast, at the time of signing that extension the Club agreed to allow Balard a free transfer after the 2023/24 season if he wished to pursue an opportunity abroad. This was in recognition of his exemplary service and dedication to the Mariners."

He signed a contract extension with the club in 2022, not sure if it was Charlesworth or Peil who negotiated it all but whoever it was f**ked up bigly. The club isn't a charity, we need to be getting a return on investment.
