Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

The only thing keeping me from being optimistic about good news coming, is that the decision to loan Doka out makes absolutely zero sense to me...

We finally did the right thing and kicked down a promising gem to a long contract, only to loan him out for free? So the ibky benefit we get is to not have to cover his wages (or some of them, we dont know those details at all) and the cost is... We don't have our best player?

This could easily fit under the heading of MC cost saving at any cost.

Does it say somewhere there is no loan fee?

I don’t see any departures as cost cutting as everyone’s drawn the conclusion too. Doka clearly wanted out, would love to know the reasons behind the few murmurs about him. I have my own opinion of him as stated, perhaps Jacko/Simmo got sick of his impact on the culture of the squad so to speak. I don’t know.

Kuol’s departure can kind of be seen as a cost cut, BUT, he just plain and simple did not deliver as a forward. He was on way too much money from the get go, a player on that kind of money needs to have the highest expectations upon his output. Especially in a cash strapped club. No one can argue he didn’t deliver. You can ramble about his effort all you want but his job is to be a goal threat, at times he was an extra defender for the opposition. So it’s a combo of too much salary for almost zero output. Move on, hopefully sign someone who will deliver goals.

Do you want maybe one of your highest paid or best players as Foreign Right Back?

I like Doka but he is not an A League #10 or wing

Do you want that when the squad is horrible up front?

Could be any number of things but i just don’t think a foreign right back is where it’s at.
Way more important pieces like CB midfielders Strikers and wingers are required

Maybe Jacko getting cut throat as doesn’t have the 3peat and players to cover him anymore

So you cut Doka instead of Feijao? That argument makes zero sense, if Jacko is gonna be cut throat... You cut the dude that isn't actually a good player. I don't care what position it is

I would absolutely cut him but i bet no one wants him.

Doka was good in both Asian tournaments. He has value and and some one we could offload.

Just offering an alternative thought especially as we only had 1 now 2 spots for foreigners to cover the crap we have

Doka could be a sulky bugger but on the score of ability he was our best player by a country mile.I know fans from other clubs( SFC and WSW) who said that they would have loved him to be in their line ups and were always worried about him when they played us.

He was originally a RB but I liked him as an No 10 who roamed across and between the lines

Monty’s intention for Doka when he signed him was actually to play him as a RM, not RB. That’s where he eventually settled and IMO where we absolutely got the best out of him.
Felt like he looked lost when we played him on the left or as a 10.

Just out of curiosity, the tactics we employed last season under jacko is that a club implemented policy or was that jacko's choice?

Obviously the coach implements his own tactics. Bearing in mind the huge amount of injuries we had (bring back Brice) and the fact the club didn't finance a competitive squad and Jacko was basically in survival mode for most of the year.

That 343 requires better players that we have and he needed to go 442 or 4231
