ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A League Expansion

The league was deathly stale last year.

Expansion should be decided and actioned at the next meeting based on the report end of discussion.

It’s ridiculous it took so long after the success of Wanderers.

They literally had to wait until everything fell flat again. Useless.

Totally agree mate.
The Wanderers set the ALeague alight.
They should have the 2 teams admitted for 2020 season with the 2nd division the season after and another 2 A league the season after that.

We're down to 6 bids, with a decision to be made at the November FFA board meeting - Macarthur SWS, Southern Expansion, Canberra, Team 11, Western Melbourne Group, and South Melbourne:

To me, putting Southern Expansion ahead of the Wolves is a monumentally stupid decision. I can only hope that the second division gets up sooner rather than later and we get the Wolves heading back towards the top tier.

Agreed. Unfortunately those in power are not fans going to games week in and out. They could benefit from getting some input from those that are.

Just the FFA delaying the decision to keep their relevance just that bit longer. Read an article yesterday when O'Rourke clearly stated they already know who they want for expansion. :redcard:

Just making it hard for the teams that come in next season, obviously if they do.
Would have thought you could hold a stakeholder meeting and gauge the interest in moving forward.

I agree. Although in one superficial aspect I can understand the thinking. A team called 'Wollongong' is too narrow a 'catchment name'. Newcastle got away with it, but non-capital cities should think bigger like the Mariners did by not calling themselves Gosford Mariners.

However, keeping the South Melbourne bit in contention at the expense of Wollongong makes no sense. South Melbourne's catchment is the Greek community in a small portion of Melbourne. So obviously, the catchment criterion is only a small consideration to FFA.

I'm praying FFA don't fall for the hype that South Melbourne is putting about.

It looks like they are saying to the people of Wollongong if you want a team then be part of Southern expansion.
The sooner they get rid of this mob the better football will be.

Worst idea ever. That's 3 different communities of people. Woollongong should rebrand to illawarra wolves or south coast. Whatever suits to keep out the stupid idea southern expanse is.

The Southern Expansion idea sucks, Wollongong has an already established club, nice stadium and l feel was ready to get a licence. Shame.

Southern expansion is a f**king dumpster fire of a bid. Unfortunately I feel they’ll get in as they have big $$ behind them. They’ll struggle to engage anyone or create a solid fan core playing out of 3 different stadiums. I can’t put into words how much I detest this bid!!
