ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

To be perfectly honest, our crowds have shown bugger all interest in it, the travel and extra games kill our players and it costs a bomb. I could see a silver lining to not qualifying.

My first thought when I read the OP was I hope we don't get embarrassed. :(
I love us being in the ACL......when we have a competitive team. This year it is probably better not to be in it.
However, the exposure across Asia of our club regularly appearing in the top competition can do our sponsorship prospects no harm.

See your point dibo but any chance I get to see my team play at my stadium I jump at it. If we can make it to the round of 16 and it a big IF at this point the prize money will pay for the expense of competing.

So are the other 2 Australian teams Brisbane & wsw or do wsw automatically qualify as they won it
Yes and no

It's the 13/14 Premiers
Then 13/14 Champions

Brisbane won both of those so it's then - Definite spot
Second regular season which is WSW- Definite spot

Then third regular season - play off spot

I must say that I'm ambivalent about CCM taking part in the ACL 2014/2015.
I concede that squad development may benefit by the high level of competition. Offset against that is the possibility of injury to team members, and that the travelling time which would probably diminish the squad's freshness or make them less than fresh for HAL/FFA Cup.
I also concede that travelling into Asia and playing against Asian teams would increase CCM's exposure in the Asian market, but would it enhance the domestic sponsorship dollar?
I think my final conclusion must be that for the 2014/2014 season we should concentrate on the HAL & FFA Cup campaigns only and we should not partake in the ACL. We should wait until the Football Division of CCM has completed at least 2 years of this 3 year development cycle. C'est la vie.

The draw is this Thursday.I'm pretty excited for it to be honest. With our league form the way it is and everything else at the moment it's something to look forward to.
List of possible teams we will play, most likely at home on the 17th of Febuary:

- Guangzhou R & F (China)
- Bangkok Glass (Thailand)
- Chonburi FC (Thailand)
- Hà Nôi T&T (Vietnam)
- Persib Bandung (Indonesia)
- Kitchee (Hong Kong)
- Yadanarbon (Myanmar)
- Johor Darul Ta’zim (Malaysia)
- Bengaluru (India)
- Warriors FC (Singapore)

We have league games the Firday before at home and the Saturday after which is away to SFC so not much travel which is good.
A couple of pretty strong teams in that list as well.

Although I am ambivalent about our participation because I just don't think we are good enough this year (yet!) I did like going to CCS for the ACL games and naturally when the club has home games for 2015 ACL I will be there.
Anybody got any 'druthers as far as who we face? Maybe Bengaluru? Or Yadanarbon?

ACL games helped bounce our form up last season, helped turn the season around a bit, IMO

So Johor Darul Ta'zim of Malaysia play Bengaluru of India.

Guangzhou R&F of China plays the winner.

We play the winner of that in a playoff.

That's the draw for the Group Stage (i.e. we find out which group we go into if we qualify).
