Only saw some of the second half.
Izzo, Peterson, Papadimitrios, O'Dell, Neil, Mcging, Berry, Bingham, Fletcher, Trent, Pain. No subs were made.
Apparently several Npl1 players filling in for the other side not sure from what team. They made quite a few subs in this half.

Looks like our Youth team had a good hit out??

Question marks over the 'couzy-bro's' fitness leading into this season.

You'd expect that Tav & Fat, having played at a higher level would keep themselves in better nick over the off-season.

Even more so when both of their signings were announced considerably early on compared to the rest.

A few around the league have big question marks on their commitment levels. Would be unsurprised to see them take their bat and ball and go home if season doesnt pan out as they expected or hoped.

Mariners earn pre-season win over Young Socceroos:

Central Coast Mariners Academy's Tom Lyons scored the winner at Central Coast Stadium.

The Central Coast Mariners secured a 2-1 win in a behind closed doors friendly against the Young Socceroos today at Central Coast Stadium.

A Jake McGing header looked certain to cancel out a solo strike from Bai Antoniou before Tom Lyons from the Mariners Academy made himself known with almost the final kick of the game to slide home a classy finish and a win for the Mariners.

Lyons has captained the under 20s academy side for most of the PS4 NPL 2 season before earning a regular place in the academy’s first team over the past month.

For the second time this pre-season, Trent Buhagiar and Liam Rose played against the Yellow & Navy as a part of the Under 20s most recent training camp.

Paul Okon’s Young Socceroos are in preparations for the AFF U19 Championship (11-24 September in Hanoi) and AFC U19 Championship (13-30 October in Bahrain) with the ultimate goal to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2017.

After an even opening 20 minutes, Young Socceroos opened the scoring thanks to a screamer from Antoniou who shot into the top corner, giving Necevski no chance in goals. Necevski, Pain, Powell, Faty, Tavares, Neill, Appiah & Montgomery were all substituted in the second half with a range of academy players and trilaists featuring for the Mariners.

Buhagiar and Rose started the second half and Buhagiar wasted no time getting involved. The speedster made his way down the right wing and found himself in a position to shoot but his strike was saved by Necevski. With 10 minutes to play Buhagiar went close again but Paul Izzo was on hand to shut down the danger on both occassions.

Jake McGing levelled proceedings in the 75th minute from a corner. Playing as a central midfielder McGing jumped above the pack from a set piece and headed home to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes to go. Lyons made a clever run down the left and found himself with a one-on-one opportunity that he slotted home with composure to seal a pre-season win at Central Coast Stadium.

Central Coast Mariners starting team: Ivan NECEVSKI, Nick MONTGOMERY, Jacques FATY, Mickey NEILL, Mickael TAVARES, Jacke McGING, Kwabena APPIAH, Blake POWELL, Connor PAIN, Matthew FLETCHER

Young Socceroos (first half): Delianov, Mutch, Flottman, Timotheou, Bandiera, Baccus, Pandurevic, Shabow, Antoniou, Maia, Prasad

Young Socceroos (second half): Sozer. Vella, Ensor, Rowles, O’Toole, L.Rose, Buhagiar, Youlley Lokoli Ngoy, Mells, Champness

Looks certain that we'll be losing Junior & Budgie between 11th - 24th September & again during the start of the A-League season during 13th - 30th October.

Good luck to the boys !

Mariners set for test against Canberra’s best:

The Central Coast Mariners will return to the nation’s capital next month for a double header against two teams made up of Canberra’s best players on Tuesday September 6 at Woden Park Enclosed.

Kicking off back-to-back at 6:00pm & 8:00pm against the Capital North region Select and Capital South region Select, the Central Coast Mariners will be split into two teams for the matches at Woden Park.
Indeed, the match will play a crucial role in the Mariners’ pre-season but it will also provide the Hyundai A-League club with a perfect opportunity to identify players from Canberra will earn the opportunity to spend a week on trial with the Central Coast Mariners.

Hi all - long time lurker here posting for the first time!

Just wanted to pass on the news that CCM are apparently playing Wellington Phoenix this Saturday, 3rd September at 3pm at Knox Grammar School in Sydney. No official word from the club and haven't been able to find more details anywhere but was told by a family member with sons there that the students were told about the match last week. There's track work on Saturday but hopefully a few people can make it for Paolo's first match in charge (providing the game does exist)!

Which pitch at Knox would this be held? I'm going to do my best to make it as I'm only 10mins away.
