Christian Theoharous (copied from a tweet but no reason to doubt the stats)

: 65 minutes played
2 assists
17/18 passes completed
2 shots on target
1/1 dribbles completed
3 tackles

Theoharous failed to feature in a match day squad for Western United earlier this season.

Some excellent performances in Mudgee. Finally some good finishing. If we had been even more clinical it would have been 7-1. Congrats to Theoharous for a well-deserved MOM. And McGarry continues to impress. Loved Jason's goal for the ticky-tacky in the box, and Theo's defence-splitting pass for Tulio's goal. How relieved was Tulio at scoring again! I thought Storm had a very strong game again. his raids and distribution up the right were excellent. Nice to see the Academy kids get some game time too. Big selection headache for Monty now!

WELL, form reversal (sort of) in action , I'm positively stoked that Dingo and Tulio (down by the goal mouth) got some past the keeper finally , as for MoM , gotta be McGarry with Dictionary coming a very, VERY close second , and as for that whistle tweeting knob, Evans, he was f**king near human this time, what that about?....sure , Methcarthur looked vaguely gassed , but their lack of physical ability had very little to do with our scoring , as for Snake MIller , go f**k yourself, just because :piralaugh:

I think Kaltak is going to be riding pine for a few weeks maybe even atleast until next year, just needs to refine his challenging.
Considering that was essentially Dan Hall's punishment for one red in the Australia Cup that's a fair call.

While Kaltak's reds have been questionable he needed to adjust his challenges to what A-League refs, after the first red, and he simply hasn't done that.

Monty completely disagrees with the decisions for Kaltaks reds so it doesn’t really make sense to me that he would then bench him over it,

The-bigger argument is with Triantis back (let alone if Faz comes through quickly) does it really merit dripping Hall or Windust…

Personally I think it’s likely we’ll see Brian back. Left mid is going to be a harder battle for Beni. Theo was outstanding and along with Roux was responsible for the Majority of our midfield transitions and most of our successful link play.

Knew he could dribble and shoot going in. But his decision making and passing range were fantastic today as well. Huge MOM performance for mine.

assume we have all our backs available... what is the back four...

Storm, Tan, Far, Kal, McGar, Hall, Windust.....

For me....

Farr, Ten, Hall, McGa..... play Mcgar as a RB....

I don't think it comes down to whether Monty believes Brian was in the right or in the wrong, the bloke now has a target on him, if he continues with the way he has been playing he will get targeted again.

If Farrell is fit I think he rests Triantis after the travel and games played in short time and goes Kaltak on the right Farrell left

if Farrell is a no go then Triantis comes in and we go back to preferred pair

On Kaltak, what concerns me is his first games back from suspension he has not been great as his confidence has been clipped which will definitely be the case this time and is a critical trip to Melbourne the time to bring him back. Perhaps a cameo off the bench is the best way to ease him back in.

After 20 rounds apparently the two reds on the weekend in Perth has now equaled a season record 41 red cards. With the games remaining this should easily be eclipsed if they keep handing them out like candy.

The Glory red was a fair call though. Despite the tin foil hat brigade on here none of ours get appealed either.
More the players than the refs

I consider the tackles that have received reds are correct and in fact there could have been more handed out if they were consistent. However the clear difference has been the change in the attitude for DOGSO, Kaltak's two DOGSO reds were questionable especially the first one. Second one he played at the ball and put himself in a sticky position for a ref looking for a get even.

I'm not sure how what adjustment can be done. After playing for so long, most of the decision making going into a tackle will be automatic based on past experience. There is little or no time to re-evaluate once committed to a challenge. Are you suggesting that he adjust his decisions on when and if to commit to a tackle? There are too many permutations to cover [opponent's position, velocity, foot positioning in relation to his and in relation to the balls position and velocity to be covered in training scenarios that would enable retraining the way he plays and challenges].
Also I dont get the idea that if after getting the ball first in a fifty fifty tackle you somehow have to factor in all possible outcomes, some of which may result in a soft red. A malicious or reckless foul is much easier to make a decision on, but fifty fifties are a big call. I'd hate to see one or both players back off and not contest fifty fifty balls because they are scared that it could result in a foul if their foot continued on and struck an opponent.
