Our full backs were a gaping hole last season.
Simply needs to be fixed. Faz has his demons but I'm not convinced he is AL level.
Sasha is on the right
Faz will play for Australia. I heard the same drivel about Kye and I said the same thing then. Faz was 18yo last year and was simply amazing for his age.

Roux will always get found out defensively as he is clueless positionally. Aqualina was going well at LB but he is defensively frail as well.

Simplistic to just blame our FB's.

Le Fronde is pure class for the AL.

Since when is Nisbet our goal line defence? We had plenty of defenders to take care of that cross from what I’ve seen. I’ll be watching replay but if we need Nisbet to clear off our line then something is terribly wrong.
If Nisbet is the guy next to lolley and rather than follow him he watches him make that run, it's his fault. It doesn't matter what position you play, you need to have the desperation to follow a run into the box if you're the closest guy.
Dan was left back last week, made an attempt at a slide tackle on the right side then got up and cleared off the line. Desperation.

Bugger. Not the end of the world, but....

Our second least physical performance of the year. Pretty disappointing to be out muscled and outplayed by Sydney. We have out competed much stronger sides. Yet I didn't see one strong tackle on Caceres, who hates physical games. We were also slower than usual to close down and our fast one touch link play was also entirely absent.

Max's worse game in a while and not Niz's best either. We definitely failed to win the all important midfield battle and sadly in general lacked adventure and composure. No left back is obviously killing us and red card withstanding, so is the general disruption we've been having at the back.

Defensively, you can't ignore Le Fondre, usually we've had Niz on him like glue, but tonight he just got to ghost where ever he wanted and he's far too good for that. On the contrary when we've focused on stopping him you go a long way to stopping them. And Lolley also had a jolly old time out there. What an easy game as an SFC attacker. They all had time and space tonight. And we retained the sloppiness of the first half of the last two games when in possession. Wasn't pretty.

We understandably don't look settled in defence and our FB overlaps have lost their fluidity in attack. But all that aside, as ever, don't take your chances, don't be surprised when you lose. Tulio has really gone off the boil. Silvera was right to be pissed, been our most in form forward for mine and was badly missed.

Very hard call for coaches in that predicament, and hindsight is twenty twenty, but whatever is to blame, clearly it did not work out well tonight. They just ran right over the top of us and sadly we didn't deserve a point imo.

Not simplistic at all. Arguably the hardest position in today's game. You have to have the energy of a b2b midfielder, the attacking skill of a winger AND beable to defend.
I'd say we have good attacking wing backs who are told to press high. That means any ball in behind them causes trouble
Was quite evident last season and still is.

Yeah I'm gunna go after the ref on this one, the number 1 FB in the league gets the flick for a bullshit call. we were always going in to a fight. SFC have strong attack, weak defence, 10 vs 10 suited them a whole lot more to us.

Result ruined an absolutely cracking day. So good to go back to the KB pregame and post game. Felt like the old days. Away support was pretty loud as well.

My head hurts today. Drinks tally - three beers at Locomotive Station café including two that were 7%, four pints and two mojitos at the KB pregame, four beers and four CC cans at the stadium, two gin and tonics at the Captain Cook and one pint of beer and three gin and tonics at the KB post game. Twenty three drinks.

We did also pass the ball to the opposition about 150 times.

Im all for a fluid attack but the boys were to tired to be making passes into crowded areas like they were.

We needed to be more patient when we were 2-1 up and just move the ball until they tired more.

Monty is great at player management and getting the youngsters to develop but almost every game now the players decision making is clearly based on playing attacking football but the games we won and held out we adapted and changed during the game.
Today we did not.

My goodness Mariners fans on the FB page are embarrassing.

We're in a bit of a rut yes. When you have a team of young players, consistency is going to be an issue. It happens. I love watching our boys as we never get a boring game win lose or draw.

My concern is our defending at the moment, once the attackers get in behind our defenders from diagonal balls or whipped crosses we find it very difficult to defend. I think our LB and RB are sometimes caught too high and need to drop back in line with our CBs. Also the number of goals we have conceded this year when Danny is a statue in goals or concede on the near post is a bit concerning as well.

For the positives, the number of fans we brought down was fantastic. Our little supporter base is slowly rebuilding after the dark years! Still had a great night and was awesome to bring back some great memories of old kits, chants and beers at the KB.

Yeah I think Nizzy does need to track that run. Both CBs occupied with their own men. You could say Aquilina should have got there but he had a man a bit further out behind him so needed to cover a large space. Nizzy was just too casual following and was well placed to see the numbers issue. Probably indicative of a shaken up back line as much as anything.

Main reason I don't engage. Insta comments are actually worse
