ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It's a 4 o'clock game in summer and people are freaking out about closing the eastern side..... there'll be 3 to 1 empty seats so you'll be more than ok with getting the virus IN the stadium (your most likely to get it arriving or leaving or visiting the loo no matter how many sides they have open, but whatever) and its a game against the reigning champions. I'd be there if I still lived in the coast.

80% of the people i know on the coast have tested positive in the last week, it's running wild here at the moment. The official stats being posted are inaccurate because it's virtually impossible to buy a RAT on the coast and some people are being turned away from pcr tests if they don't meet requirements.

Even though the outdoor setting makes it lower risk it's still a gathering of 4000 people you don't usually mix with. There will be some people there who've got it. In the back of my mind is the fact we've got the ffa cup final coming up, i don't want to miss that because I've caught it at this one.

I might still go, just in 2 minds at the moment. I'd have been a lot more comfortable and an easier decision if it was full stadium.

Understand Dobbie, and very valid and rational thinking.

To counter that (but not to change your position or opinion) is the fact that BECAUSE so many people have had covid now on the coast, those people are now coming out the other side of their quarantines with more confidence about social settings. I am currently on day 4 of my covid experience, and was so excited about our cup win because I can now attend the final (whenever/wherever that is) with significantly less anxiety around covid. Although sadly I will be watching this weekend match in the couch.

There are now 3 distinct and logical groups in our society, those that are trying to avoid catching covid, those that don’t really care and see it as inevitable eventually, and those that have already had it.

They all have their own strengths, but all approach a situation like a football game completely differently, and the balance of these groups is completely different from a few weeks ago and will continue to rapidly change over the coming weeks.

There’s a lot of people moving from 1 to 2 at the moment. Many people that have been doing all the right things and lying low are still getting it anyway so the sentiment is shifting to ‘why am I sacrificing all these things when it’s inevitable’. It’s a bit hard to reconcile with all the fear based messaging of the last 2 years though.

Most of the people I know that have had it recently it's been mild flu symptoms, over the worst of it in 1 to 2 days. However 1 couple got Delta (they think) and were both very sick for a week and not fully recovered 3 weeks later.

I'm also not that excited by the fact you don't even have to test to stop isolating, just an arbitrary 1 week isolation after a positive test then you're good to go. Haven't looked at any of the science behind that but it seems very much at odds with previous rules/approach. Hard not to think these are economic decisions rather than health based.

I do have to take some personal responsibility as well, there is someone else at home that is vulnerable.

Closing a side of the stadium is not going to increase anyone's risk of getting the virus, is what I was getting at.
Getting a properly fitted mask, not touching your face, and even better getting there and leave outside of the rushes can all have dramatic impacts on your risk. However, like Dobbie pointed out, that all depends on your own situations. The best risk mitigation is elimination.

I don't think anyone's "freaking out" we were just curious as to why that decision was made is all.

Allowing 4k yelling, cheering fans to spread out around 20k ish seats is more distance between people in a pandemic but I'm sure the club has their reasons.

ok ,so what about our reversed seating . i expect to sit in my seat ?
This is what I was meaning, my mate and I have regular members on either side of us shoulder to shoulder, would be nice to spread out a bit more but again, I am sure the club has its reasons.

Side issue re closing the Eastern side and keeping Western side open....

The general seating on the Western side is quite restricted whereas on the Eastern side there are a lot more general bays...

If they force all the general seats from the Eastern side into a small number of Bays on the Western side I think that is an issue...

Hey All,

Just wanted to jump in here to clarify any seating questions with the closing of half the stadium.

All General Admission members that normally sit on the eastern side of the stadium will have any of the general admission bays open on the west and north side to sit in - those are bays 1 and 11-19.

All reserved seat members can still sit in their normal seat on the west side. Any reserved seat members on the east have been sent a ticket with a seat on the west equivalent to where they sat on the east.

As you all know the crowd is expected to be quite low for this game so therefore we are hoping there is still enough space around the ground that people don't feel too claustrophobic.

Also for members still needing to collect their membership cards/packs - Card will be available to collect from the Western Box Office from myself, pack from my intern Jacob behind Bay 10. Due to covid there is a lack of membership staff and therefore membership hats wont be available for collection.

See you on Sunday.

My question is the general seating on the west side is a lot less than the east side.. will you allow general seating on the west side for this game to spread across the reserve seating
