ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I sincerely hope he can lift the standard of officiating in the Aleague. Also an explanation of VAR incidents would be helpful to those of us that aren’t up to date with all the rules changes and interpretations…
Agree, last season was a new low in my opinion so shouldn't be that hard to improve. Sacking Ams would be a good start or at least hold him accountable for his bias actions.

I think generally we are too tough on our officials. Yes there are shocker games but that's a given right across the world and no official is immune. Anyone remember 3 yellow cards to a single player at the world cup? VAR has only intensified this. I remember playing sports as a child and the official was basically feared. You get on the wrong side of them and they'll punish you for it. Anyone remember the name Barry Gomersall? Now days you don't see as much retribution taken by officials obviously due to the intense scrutiny they're under. Can't speak for community sport because I no longer participate but I'm sure it's probably harder for them because everyone they officiate over is a bloody expert. They do however enjoy the anonymity of not having hundreds of thousands of people passing opinion on their calls across all forms of media.

I dont think anyone expects a ref to be perfect but there hasn't been enough accountability and transparency in the A league when things go wrong and I think that speaks towards the leadership they've had rather than any 1 individual on the pitch. At best the few times they have addressed something its a cherry picked grey incident sometimes in the same round as an absolute howler we hear crickets about.

A 14-team A-League remains a possibility for next season, with the Australian Professional Leagues to conduct a “strategic review” into expansion over the next six months.
The new season kicked off on the weekend amid the fallout from Adelaide United coach Carl Veart’s comments that the competition isn’t fair because teams don’t play each other the same amount of times.

The APL, which runs the A-League, wasn’t thrilled with Veart going public with his thoughts last Friday, despite admitting the competition’s structure isn’t “perfect”.

The 12 A-League clubs play each other at least twice, before playing another four teams a third time to meet the minimum Asian Football Confederation requirement for clubs of 26 games per season.

Get it done APL.

I reckon Canberra and probs GC. GC because the APL will want a qld derby and roar don't have a home so it won't be a bris #2. Also apparently GC have big bucks behind them.

I would like to see Tasmania and Wollongong included as the two new teams. GC was such a failure last time I would look at FNQ again based at Townsville with a couple of games played at Cairns.

I like these 2 but think Canberra will be next. Maybe we need to grasp the nettle and go to 14 next season and 16 the following. That would give Tasmania a chance to invest in their stadium if that is still on the table.

No doubt eventually there will be another SE QLD team with the whole area expanding - just not sure where

Living on the GC at the time I went to some of the first seasons games and there were decent crowds. Any owner there will need deep pockets.

Here we go again. Forcing teams into areas that are not tested or may not have the financial backing (NQ Fury). . Or clubs with the financial backing not having the fan base (Western United).

Just hurry up and get a second division happening and then teams that are worthy of being in the A-League will earn that right through promotion.

We don’t need to be fixated that everywhere in Australia needs to be represented in the top comp. We need to be fixated that clubs are run well and as sustainable as possible.

Can’t argue with any of that Mick

I can. The APL have already said they are looking for strategic areas, not a second division, for expansion so it really doesn''t matter what we want.

Only consider the places with a stadium, so Canberra I feel is a good chance as I would say they want to avoid another nomad club like Western United. This is what may impede any QLD teams other than a possible GC however the NRL and AFL still struggle there so why would the APL think they can make it work. Don't write off Adelaide or Perth getting a second team, this comp loves a derby.

Now, I don’t want to come across as a grumpy f**k …BUT… why do the Matildas have Commbank in their name , but no other national teams do (as near as I can find) …what next?, the hungry Jack socceroos or the drunken monkey Mariners !
