ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Club revenue

I know next to nothing about the different revenue streams for a football club, I've always just been focused on the game and the team.

I was wondering if anyone with a bit more insight can roughly explain the split on revenue and how the club makes money.

I can think of some revenue streams:
Ticket sales
Tv rights
Selling players
Selling Merch
Corporate boxes
Sponsorship deals
Cut of the stadium bars/ food sales?
Pitchside advertising
One-off events
Corporate speaking?

Can anyone put a guess on percentage of total revenue for each and fill in any gaps? I'm intrigued because on the face of it seems a lot harder to make money than I'd thought.

Can’t talk about revenue streams but I know match day is very expensive for the club. I did some post grad uni work on Mariners match days and each event runs easily into six figures. Multiply that by the number of match days and it is a sizeable part of the club’s budget.

Dun & Bradstreet model our annual revenue to be around the 6 million mark. As for breakdown who knows. It would have changed completely this year anyway

I remember hearing (was it on an early pod?) that it costs about $75k to run a home game. No idea if that was true or if it still holds though. Hence the need to control the rights.

Hence they built the COE to try raise funds in a different manner and also you left off wealthy owners with deep pockets.

All sports teams are expensive toys not profitable businesses.

especially with football where the more money you make the more you are expected to spend
