Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

So in the 3 games, Ruon got 13 minutes 7 vs Taiwan, 6 vs Nepal, good on him for getting the oppotunity to play for his country but in that time he missed at least 270 minutes of alot more competitive football.
And the time to train in front of the boss and test himself against higher quality attackers.

Also could be seen as tie down minutes to secure him as an Aussie.

While frustrating we didn’t have him i am happy for him. That was the league’s fault not Arnie IMO

True, I think the spot was to secure his services in the future, still from a club supporters perspective, it is a very bitter pill to swallow, 13 minutes in games already won.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the club looking at Roy after the Jets cut him loose. Hasn’t exactly had that killer edge in front of goal lately though.
This is when we need an agree button. I think the club may have a look and Roy would probably like to not have to travel too much - but I couldn't use the like button.
Turbo, I thought the same when I saw he was leaving.

Imagine him back. It would have been like us signing Berisha.
A striker the fans want to hate, and he knows it.

At least he leads the A league ladder for thumbs up for failed through balls from midfield.

He's the sort of striker we need, not sure about cultural fit though and there's the snake factor.
A few years ago maybe. He’s been in a form slump of late and it would be brave to replace (or worse, partner one ageing striker with another in Simon). I’m sure he’d love playing off Urena but what can he do with it once he has the ball?

Yeah I meant the 'sort of striker' rather than him specifically. i.e. a dirty mongrel poacher who's hungry for goals and can finish.

Tend to agree, but I remember saying that Berisha was past it 12 months ago.

Word is Clisby may be heading to the Glory? Hopefully not, he would be a loss after this year’s massive improvement. I also think that some players perform better under certain coaches, so perhaps an element of buyer beware with the signing of some players, ie “historical performance is no indicator of future performance” (or whatever it is they say about investing in managed funds)…:)

perhaps he wants to head home.
12 months ago I’d kiss you if you told me Clisby was leaving. Even 6months ago.
But he has mostly proved me and others wrong, best season of his career. But he did still make stupid errors and more crucially positional errors. Could potentially be improved upon big if in our current situation though

Interesting. He tends to blow hot and cold, then there's been seasons where he just blowed. I think Kye covers up a lot of his mistakes and we've definitely leaked some goals through him.

On the flipside his crossing can be very good and he's decent going forward. Starting to slow up though as he gets older.

I know Jets fans haven't been impressed by him, though I wonder if he is past his prime or not.

Goals per season have been 8/11/9/11/10/7.......so, that 7.....I wonder how much being the only player in a shit team who knows what a goal looks like might help the stats cover his own loss of form, or does that relative consistency show he can still have it?

I hate to admit it, but we probably could do worse, though I think he would be a high risk of not being what we need.

That and I don't want to see him tainting the yellow jersey.

I have no doubt that with Urena alongside him he will find the net better than most.
As for whether he will fit in?
He is a professional journeyman, not a clubman. He will play to the best of his ability for whoever pays him.
Can we do better for an experienced striker? Who knows? I doubt it.

I hate it when you're right

Realistically we should definitely be considering him - might come down to if he overstates his value or not.

Ideally we'd still be looking for a 2nd reasonable striker if so (I'm guessing he'd take the pay packet of a 'gun' striker
