I noticed one time he jus had one defender to beat for an open goal, but turned back into the defender to play for the corner. That's a no-confidence play right there.
I think we would have been better taking him off for Nisbet, leaving Urena on to be swapped out a bit later. Urena definitely didn’t look any more gassed than Bouman.

I was really hoping Staj would be brave enough to leave Urena on and sub Bouman (who looked totally gassed to me from about 60 mins) for Kuol and Nizzy for Simon. Alou could really benefit from the game smarts of Marco imho and I believe this would have allowed us to create more chances.

For some reason, we also lost our midfield shape in the centre for a lot of the second half and both sixes were caught too far upfield for both of Kamau’s goals, when one should always be sitting deep if the other has gone forward. Hopefully that is something that will be picked up during the video analysis.

Echoing sentiments - we dropped this game - and we got a gimme by the VAR right at the end; for once Beath being terrified of making actual big decisions worked in our favour.

We're 3 points ahead of MCY, they have 2 games in hand and a much better GD than us. Even AU, 5 points behind and 2 games in hand.

You'd expect them to win at least one of those games. Games like tonight and MV will hurt us at the end of the season once we're all on the same number of games. They have played 2 fewer games than us but have the same number of wins.

But, I still think it's a clear improvement from those couple of weeks of concern - but I still don't know why Staj is insistent that Nizzy and Kuol shouldn't start.

I wasn't convinced by the Janota sub either.

We allowed WSW to have too much counter - we just opened right up; start of the season we shut down these counters by taking away space.
Janota was responsible for us losing.......or what did you mean? or you would have brought on a 20yo 2 game veteran?

... In that time WSW have to play the ADL, SYD as well as WUN in 7th. . Games like tonight and MV will hurt us at the end of the season once we're all on the same number of games. They have played 2 fewer games than us but have the same number of wins.
...

I'm not too worried yet. but the next run of 6 games is when we have to hang tough. We have played 4 of the other top 6 sides twice, ADL, WSW, City and MAC.

Our next 6 games are against WUN (7th), SFC (6th), Roar twice (8th) MVC (12th) and NUJ (11th).

I want to see us make our mark in these 6 games. At that stage everyone will be on 22 games. Two of our remaining games after that are postponed ones against City and Macarthur. I'm not sure of the final 2 games but is likely that City will be without Nabbout and Maclaren from after the 22 rounds are complete. We will likely lose people as well but those two are integral to them.

In that time Adelaide have to play the SFC, WSW, City and MAC as well as WUN in 7th.

In that time MAC have to play the ADL and City.

In that time City have to play the ADL, SYD and MAC.

In that time WSW have to play the ADL, SYD as well as WUN in 7th.

In that time SFC have to play the City ADL, us, WSW as well as WUN in 7th.

BTW - that young Natta looked a decent prospect for WSW

A game of missed opportunities. This should have been the game we iced an opposition by plenty. Should have scored on 4 occasions.
It definitely felt that way, there was a period in which I thought we might go on to do it. But as has been said - if we don't take our opportunities the result is on us

i haven't watched the reply yet .nigro for mine is becoming a real gem .
We should have won that game easily.

we were dodgy but far better than The Drivebys.

Our defence was lacking when put under pressure.
yeah i disagree. our defence is as good as anyone . stens was below par thou he'll get better with game time . we just squandered to many chances . we need to be more clinical in front of goal .
urena needs time with kuol asap

Yep - we need Urena and Kuol starting. Urena is getting fitter and needs to play more than 60 mins. Kuol can bust a gut for as long as he can with Maty replacing him when appropriate.

I'd also be keen to see more than a short cameo from Janota. He seems to have the presence and skill to play a similar link role as Urena but so far we have used him more further back in the midfield. We have been lucky with injuries and suspensions but we need to have fit cover for when they come.

It’s mental fatigue for Stens I think. Once his body tires (he is a big boy) his mind stops doing the basics and he dilly daliies and gets caught undecided instead of a simple early release
His lack of fitness was definitely a big contributor. He just does so much more work than anyone else. As much as I like the Bozz and the amazing leadership he provides, his positioning is all over the shop and others are expected to accomodate. Stenz is the one having to make up most of that deficit.
Having said that, Stenz definitely needs to work on his medium range passes to get back to pre injury form.

We started off the fittest side but it's interesting to see that hasn't stayed true; though it mattered a lot at the start. Bouman wasn't quite as sharp as he has been.

Yep. I think the the 11 day break will do the boys some good.

the pitch was extremely heavy, both Stens and Ollie went through a mountain of work. Tired massively late on.
Nizz should’ve replaced one of them and I feel Urena should’ve stayed on for the 90 and we would’ve finished them off.
And what does Janota have to do to get some minutes?
people were worried about Urena cracking the shits a few games ago. I might be knit picking but Janota has a legit reason to be angry right now. He’s fit and looked very sharp every time he’s on the pitch.

we should’ve won, but wsw turned it around and I take a point in the end. They had enough chances to bury us too.

Watched the replay last night and it was quite clear that Gianni was still lamenting his goal miss. He laid on the ground for ages after and was out of position right after the goal. He and Ollie, for sone reason, put no effort in chasing Kamau.

On top of that Ruon uncharacteristically dived in at Kamau instead of standing him up, and then the ball took a bloody deflection.

If that play was repeated a hundred times it would not yield a goal. Perfect storm.
