Was so good to see Stens back, even tho his first input was getting stitched with a foul against Keogh that I thiught should have gone to us and was the root cause of their goal.

I remember Staj yelling to the 4th official, "that goal goes all the way back to that foul, that was a foul against us"

This. The sloppy 2nd half coincides with Stensness's injury. Highlights the need to make sure we can cover that role if it happens again and have faith in those stepping in.

I think Ballard was under utalized through these games, from all reports, and from what I've seen would have been quite capable to hold a position for a half.

their second goal? Yeah, when I went back to spot the offside I remembered that it was a ridiculous foul.

Hahaha man we were having way too much fun with our new rainy bangers playlist!! Jimmy from JC Entertainment and of course Carly had huge influence in the tracks too! Good bit of fun
Cracked me up. Though I’m worried you’re overplaying the underplaying and will get necked for it.

We have lost control of the midfield in the second half in the last 4 games now. When we were bringing on Koul earlier in the season we were building up brilliantly and he was on the end of the build up. We seem to have lost that are are trying to bang it long and hope you can produce some magic.
I think Staj got the subs wrong in this match. Way to late and went for tired forwards which is probably fair but that game was played in the trenches and the pitch was so heavy I think fresh legs were needed in the middle. Interesting Staj didn’t want to use anymore subs. Didn’t trust them or thought the guys on the pitch could do it.
Stens Koul were the only two i can remember till the death.
i think that’s an error in those conditions but we managed to get one back which is great fighting again
Agree, he has done this quite a bit so far this season and I want to think it's all planning for the pointy end of the season by ingraining into the team how to win/hang on when your flogged and gassed. Also keeps up a very good fitness level. I thought Janota would have been good for at least 20 mins and Casella may also have been a good sub.

Agree on Stens but no way Nisbet gets benched after that game, he was best on field for us. Staj will want the Olly Stens pairing back - so Wide for Bouman is almost a given I reckon.
Niz to play right mid. Bouman to the bench. Bouman and Kuol who combine well to replace Matty and Marcos around the hour.

Stens and Ollie will make sure we do not drop off before then.

With Jalota and Casella in reserve for any tiring/injured midfielders and Hall and Miller to cover the backline.
Unfortunately this could mean Hatch and Ballard going back to the NPL side on Saturday, although one or both could still travel with the team to Melbourne.

I'd have a bench of
Pearce,
Hall
Casella, Janota, Ballard
Kuol, Bowman

That covers most possibilities.

Should start the next match thread early.

City away will be a huge test and very possibly a GF preview.
yeah - and they're in form whereas we've dropped it a bit in the midfield lately, though hard to hold anything together when you're playing in a swamp.

Big test for City as well, so I'm a bit worried about this one.

Excited to actually be going to a game for once though!

City has hit a bit of form with the inclusion of Griffiths and Nabbout. We have dropped at the same time because we lost Stensness.

I think with Stensness this should be a great game and a real test for both teams. Nabbout will swap wings so it is important that both Nizzy and DDS support the fullbacks.

I can't read much into last nights game playing in those conditions, in that swamp - apart from Nizzy growing even more into his potential

It's too soon for the Aussie Messi calls, but one day perhaps!
If Nizz could shoot, you might be able to, until then too early.

I know and went soooo close again, it's becoming a real monkey I'm afraid. Olly the same, other than the Pen he would be on a donut but has gone oh so close so many times. Also DDS has hit a bit of a snag lately and keeps finding the keeper and not the corner of the net. Nice to think all three still have plenty of time to add to the goals tally this season.

See some dingleberries over at a Mariners supporters Facebook page shitting all over Marcos for his fairly insignificant grumpy moment yesterday, dunno about anybody else , but I like to see a guy whose performing get narky when he gets subbed
