Just watched the replay. Holy f**king shit balls batman. The ref let that game run. I liked it, meant it got a bit more physical. Sanchez is a flog.
Urena looked heaps better. Bit slow but getting the idea. Janota was OK but still off. DDS was off too, probs tired.
But again Ruon was epic. Overshadows Kye because hes a go getter and Kye is the stay at home dad.
Could tell the mids were tired and the sub's made a difference.
But man, the pairing of Alou and Bouman did a great job. Obviously Alou should get all the plaudits for his energy and finishing. Have we had a better heading finisher?
Kind of annoying we dropped the flame chooks game because of these 2 come from behinders.
Have we had a better heading finisher?
Hot Dutchman- Grand final. He also had a knack of good headers. I seem to recall a late winning header against the Fury that led to a similar score line.

I was just laughing in the end. They did it again!
Cape Cod, I was waiting with a couple of people for a mate to come out from the toilet at the end of the game. A bloke I know came over and hugged me, this dude is a 110kg unit. I slapped him on the back all excited after an incredible game and he had tears in his eyes. That emotion is beautiful after being a shambles of a team for so long. This team is making alot of jaded hearts sing again. The last two games have been incredible.

AND......non-football people ARE talking positively about the Mariners again.
My missus told me three of her friends went to the game yesterday, and they had NEVER been to a football match before, unless it involved Souths Sydney or Wests Tigers or Manly.....and they loved it!....
it's jut a pity there are no home games now for almost a month....the excitement that's building will be lost.

Still buzzing.

Agree, we were sloppy for an hour. Our midfield struggled without Niz and Janota wasn't great.

Yet again, bring on Kuol and everything changes. Not tying the boy down to a longer contract could bite us in the arse. If I'm Sydney or Victory I'm on the phone to his agent today.

Scholarship simply isn't good enough and our biggest potential earner since Ryan could possibly walk when it's up.

CCM you have 1 job

Capn - You are so far off the mark it is laughable. Faghani is light years ahead of any referee we have seen in Australia. His performance tonight was excellent. I've spoken to players from both sides after the game and they were singing his praises. I guess FIFA would be pleased that you have never assessed a referee who has had the centre of an AFC Champions League Final, AFC Asian Cup Final, Club World Cup Final, Olympic Games Gold Medal game, FIFA Confederations Cup semi final and a FIFA World Cup third place play off - you probably would have marked him down and sent him back to referee NPL2.

I would have loved to play with him in charge as you know you can get away with murder. To his credit he let both sides get away with a lot and it does make it a more interesting game. He is definately NOT the best Ref in Australia imho.

I sound like a baritone this morning lol.

What a great game. We did look a bit jaded until the last 30 mins, after that we were on fire.

I was impressed with Urana and he was giving it to The Albabian Gypsy, who is a clearly deranged. Matty Simon was terrific. DDS workrate is insane even though he made a few mistakes last night. ALL the subs were sensational. When Nizzy came on it was like when Gumps used to come on, the noise goes up and electricity happens. Alou, what a legend! MOM for me was Tonyik, who apart from getting done on the 2nd goal was immence. Also shout out to Negro, top game son.

I felt it as well thinking back to the old days - but that comparison to Gumps coming on is spot on.

You can have all that resume and still have a bad game. Tempers escalated a few times because he let clear fouls go.
I think it’s just that his style is markedly different to our usual refs is what stands out. For instance, he lets a lot of tackles go that other IAL refs would blow up, so teams just have to adapt to that. Refereeing is just like football in that different regions play the game differently and thus referees officiate differently.

Whilst I get that some don’t like his style, I don’t personally feel that Mr Faghani’s handling of the game was poor or biased, just different. Certainly, Kurt Ams’ performance in the Wanderers’ game was levels worse than last night imho.

well someone needs to be a kill joy . another punter has already brought this up .
we are conceding to many goals .
all be it . they were of the highest quality and our guys were fatigued .
kuol can now expect to be ruthlessly fouled . so we need to hope urena can start picking up goals .

am said "we needed to get 6 from the last 3" we did that. im thinking we need 5 or so again from the next 3 and clean sheets or no more than 1 .

I love Berisha and would have loved him to play for us.
The Albanian Matt Simon. 100% niggle and aggression. With quality too. His finish was all class.
After he enticed Ruon to sythe him and get a card, he put his arm round him as they ran back as if to say "just part of the game, nothing personal".

If you have Rowles and Clisby on the left side of your back 4 you have to kind of expect it tbh.

Urena hit the post, made space beautifully to nearly score one himself and was really starting to play well before we hooking him. He also set up Matty to get the assist to Casella on Wed night.
Jonota is dripping in class but looks unfit atm.

I'm guessing most Refs are fairly myopic lol. Sit back and enjoy the ride Capt.

perfectly summed up
Urena and Janota are still well short of full match fitness and sharpness but if most people would take a second and actually take in what they do with the ball, they’ll notice the sheer class they possess.

Went home and watched the replay I was so pumped. WU played the press well and clearly stifled us as we were rightly a bit flat with 3 games in 7 days. It was down right trench warfare for the first 25 mins of the second half then the high press game gassed them and our subs made a huge difference and were better than their subs.

I'm not going to be critical of any of our players given that week and I would have totally understood them being flat and losing but not this group. What a team culture we have at the moment. It was great to see the huge smiles on the young players faces at the end of the game when going to each side of the field and thanking the fans. Some of them have been around a while and would not have experienced the jubilation of Wednesday nights game and then backed up again last night. This will only make this playing group stronger.

Ruon had a stern test tonight and passed in my opinion and will learn from this one. Urena has a great attitude and I seen him congratulating Kuol after the game and he seems to have genuinely brought into what this team is about. You can just tell he is not far off a goal or two, how good was his header that lead the Simo's goal. I get what they see in Bouman, that is two quality assists now. He is a talent and assists are just as good as goals in my book. Nis broke their back and old Diamanti could only jog after him after he stole the ball from him. Stens, DDS and our whole back line that is a huge week and they all can hold their heads high with what they juts put in.

On the Ref, I said at the start to my Son this will be a rough game as he lets tough tackles go more often than others and he didn't disappoint. Was great to see our young team didn't shy away from the thuggery and diving displayed by WU and ended up out playing and out running them in the end after three games in a week. Loved watching their Visa players rolling around on the ground and the play just kept going, this is Straya Mate, harden the $^& up!!!
