Big balls on display tonight from the boys, guts and grit again. It feels like this is just the beginning and we're going to get better and better.

I've been very critical in the past of how poor our conditioning has been, this year is totally different. Fit and up for it.

Fingers chewed down to stumps, such an exciting and nerve racking game!

Congratulations to the whole team, they all fought so hard.

I'm keen to see Oli, Urena and Kuol on at the same time, that could be quite an amazing passing combination with an exciting finisher.

Defends from the front too. Like Simon and Shearer.
Yeah, how do you not love this kid. He doesn't stretch for a ball he has no right to get near, we don't score our third goal.

He has a touch of Matty about him in that way. Neither of them believe in lost causes and both create their own luck.

Oh, and our Visa players look the goods. Just need more time and fitness. I think we have two very good signings.

How's Jankovic coming along?

Amazing that we did that today missing Olly and Nizzy, who were for mine, outside of Tongyik, our best players in the earlier games.

Also, when you beat City like that, you can go, ok that had nothing to do with the covid evening the playing field and the we're better acclimatised at having no money stuff. We're just pound for pound a fitter, hungrier, better, football side. And how f**king good is that.

I’m not gonna add yet another synopsis of the game to this thread, as others have already said anything that would I have but I will just say that game had the feel of the Mariners of old.

Everyone had each other’s back tonight and even though we made a couple of poor mistakes to hand $ity the lead, I for one never felt we were out of the game and so the final result wasn’t a fluke it was well-deserved.

Perhaps we got a little bit of the luck that deserted us in the Wanderers and Nix games but this one still required a shit tonne of guts and character to bring home the biccies.

What a great TEAM (and I emphasise that word) we have this year and they really can go all the way if they continue to believe like they did tonight.

I am buzzing!

Unf'ingbelievable. Just finished watching it on tv after getting home from an unavoidable commitment. What a game to miss.
What a brilliant game.
I wanted Matty on the bench this week. What a great judge.
When I heard both Olly and Nizzy were out, I decided we were gone and watched the game with the intent of concentrating on our visa signings and no expectations.
I would like to give Matty the MOM but cannot go past DDS. The best game I have ever seen him play. Yes Recky, it was me who said he cannot shoot.
I would like to see Janota signed for at least 3 years, he is the goods. Whoever is responsible for his signing deserves more money. Very impressed with Urena, he will be massive.
When have we ever had so many good options up front?
I think it was last year Staj said you do not need buckets of money to win. He is proving that to be true. Tie him up immediately for at least 5 years.
We have been hearing for a while now that we have to develop youth. Credit to MC who was also singing this song. It is now starting to come together and to pay off. Great credit to the Academy staff, Monty and Anton. This Club has gone from being a joke to being a model for an A league club. The quality of the young players coming through is awesome.
Prospects for investors must now be increased and I would not be surprised if more potential buyers come out of the woodwork. I would say the value is increasing quicker than the Sydney property market.

There is a difference between being fast and being quick. Bouman may be fast but he does not appear to be quick. I do not know if Nizz is fast but he is quick. It is all about those first few steps.
Many years ago when I used to play rugby the wingers usually had blistering pace while it was the half back who used to be best over 10 yards. I was neither quick nor fast.
If you are quick in football you are halfway there.

When you consider we were without Ollie and Nizzy, with Urena and Janota not yet up to full fitness and probably not gelling very well with the team yet Staj may have some nice headaches in the coming weeks.
IMO the middle 4 should be DDS Oli Stens Nisbet unless someone drops their form or rotation is needed for injury or back to back games. Janota may force his way on to a wing but I don’t think he did enough tonight to say he should unseat one of those 4 if available.

But that means we have options of Janota, Bouman and Casella to bring on to change games and keep intensity up,

Up front I’d be starting Kuol and Urena as I think Kuol has earned it and Urena offers more than Simon. He can be the super sub or bring on younger legs if the game demands it.

To be fair to Clisby (who is the most improved player this year) those Goals were also down to Rowles and Tonyik (and Stens who had a woeful 1st half). All 3 were loose as hell and guilty of ball watching far too much. There is no leader and no organiser without Bozanic (and a screening Mid shouldn't be running the backline)
But MC sent us into the season without a Defensive leader and we are going to flounder sometimes and Birra is a quiet keeper.
Having said that our two young CB's have alot of potential and decent coaching can and will get them there.

I'm glad clisby found form second half, but he jockeys players, its what happened in the lead up to the first goal, jockeying works 1 on 1 to hold players for defenders to get back, he shouldn't have done it when they drove for the box and he had 5 mariners behind him, but I feel he and the coaches are trying to correct it, and given time he just might.

KOULity win. Sorry you guys don’t deserve that after not only a win but from behind. WTF.

We are legit a good team finally. I was worried it was just a hot start (Last season we won a couple early and then never again) while everyone worked us out as we were a very simple team. Solid bank of 4 x 2 and some poaching. Now i have seen the expansion of that defense and we have now dominated 3 quality teams in a row with them struggling to get over half way for decent patches and we copped Mariners goals (dumb concentration lapses).

@Wombat 44Fkn2 has been awesome. Finally numbers up top. No longer 1 vs 4.

The hunger to win the ball back but also doing it physically and without fouling or with just enough to put the ref in two minds has been magnificent. It’s so far from the last couple of years it’s hard to believe and it’s beautiful.

Then the team chemistry is starting to grow but most importantly heads aren’t dropping and players giving up like they used to. I was worried after WSW because we didn’t respond after conceeding and looked lost. We did a bit of that last night but we shook our selves out of it and got 3 goals all off effort. There was skill but effort won the ball all 3 times.

Great win but everyone should be enjoying we are worth watching again.

Now to ruin the love fest. Nizzy aint a starting 11 player. He will be a sub and he has been good No Doubt.
It’s Olli Stens DDS Jonata as my preferred 4 mids
