Did you notice where he was at those times? I can’t help but wondering if he was covering DDS or Duric’s work leaving Kim stranded. Whatever the reasons for me this formation has run its course. Let’s go 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 or something along those lines and try again.

Even with 3 players in the front two lines we will get caught out and they will go around us.

Should we go 4-5-1 and solely work on defence and become a well oiled shut down team until we get one confidence back.
Haha

Well I went up into the Prawn sandwich seats as a guest of Ancient Mariner to get a different perspective.

My thoughts

1. Sign Birraz to a long term deal and maybe make him Captain for the rest of the season.
2. Drop Oar. He is a f**king muppet. As Ancient said.......how the hell did this bloke get 25 caps for Australia as a winger.
3. Clisby has to go. If Fox is "persona non grata" then bring Tonyik in and put Rowles to LB. Or play with a back 3 of Rowles, Miller and Ziggy. Its not like we defend our flanks anyway.
4. Dujic is plodding and looked very poor tonight. Certainly not a player we should have ditched Tommy H for. Hopefully he can recover his earlier form as we need him to perform.
5. Rowles (1pt) played well but Ziggy was the real hero tonight. Easily our MOM and the only player (excluded Matty of course) who was willing to fight for a 50/50 ball.
6. Kim was excellent for my money tonight. 2pts. I hope to see him here next year.
7. Nizzy (1pt) deserves a 2-3 year contract. Pretty solid and will get better in fact looks like a smarter Footballer than DDS already.
8. Oar and DDS are the cause of a lot of our problems......both were very very poor tonight and left a massive gap in the middle of the park. Silvera would be a better option at 10 (sorry to upset you TB) And Oar as a second striker is pointless.
9. Simon is not starting 11 but definately gives us a boost.
10. Muzz works hard but his finishing is shite. Jair actually was more productive but i dont rate either.

Ditch the 4222 its horribly flawed.

Good to see True Believer and Midfielder up in the posh seats.

it’s actually supposed to revert to a 5-4-1 in defence with Kim dropping in the defensive line.

The major is the transition from ball possession to ball possession opposition. The transition to defensive shape is happening too slowly because both fullbacks are so far forward at the same time leaving a gap in the channel between the centre backs and the defence. Muller was superior in finding that space today from deep runs. He really is a class player.

We literally saw this in the first 2 games!
And I’ve been complaining about it since then!!
Why would both fullbacks advance when the bill can only be on one side of the park at a time.
And they are advanced when we don’t even have the ball yet.
Drives me crazy!!!!

Do they not just simply watch a Sydney game and watch Grant move up only when appropriate or after instigating a 1/2.

Absolutely bonkers.
This sole tactical failure has not been fixed and as much as everyone like Staj he doesn’t have the higher level team he had at the Matildas to work with.

Im all for stability but Staj has to go if he can’t get a few almost purposeful draws by working on defence and shutting down teams.

Sometimes it was 541 or 532 other times it was 433. It was pretty ugly in truth.

100% down to Stajic.
Watches Clisby - still picks him.
Oar signs for someone else - keeps him as onfield captain when he has clearly checked out
Has access to stats - signs Jair.
6 games with no goals from open play.
Happy to see him leave TBH, think he is out of his depth
Agree time for a new coach
We need to get Hutch back.

He's been tactically poor time and again and keeps trying to shove square pegs into round holes - systems that don't work and players out of position, not to mention inexplicably benching good players (reminds me of MM) and rewarding the repeatedly bad ones.

I'm losing faith in him for next season, but I don't think turfing him would be the right way to go - a coaching merry-go-round would surely make it harder to attract new coaches. While we're still a basket case, he's probably the best we can attract.

And we need to be asking hard questions of whoever the hell is responsible for coaching the attack.

Absolutely, our transition when we lose the ball is poor but our transition when we win the ball is reasonable, breaking down to being poor in ball possession.

For those familiar with the curriculum and caching principles this is how I see our season:
BP - very poor
BPO to BP - okay
BP to BPO - terrible
BPO - passable

And Bay Rd

We went to The Bon Pavillion. $5 schooners (3 options) and its air conditioned. Sadly the Two suns on Tap was sold out. Its a smick venue and they have big screen TV's. And they had a muso playing.
I recommend it.

TBH we are very lucky now to have 3 brilliant venues for pre games drinks in Gosford, The Bon, Bay Rd and @ Baker St (4...The Leagues, if you want a slap and a good chinese feed).

Shutting down is just inviting cheap losses like the one we copped last week. At least if we change to a more traditional formation it should be a lot clearer who should be marking who, who isn’t covering their part of the pitch. When our current formation goes wrong you can see the disagreements here on the player(s) responsible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the players think the same and aren’t necessarily taking responsibility for their errors on an individual level.

Staj has some big decisions to make this week because the jets will beat us if we play like we did today.

I'm pretty over following this team now.

Last season was so close to breaking point it wasn't funny, and this season genuinely hasn't been much better.

I back Staj and still have hope for the future. But I'm wearing down now and am starting to become apathetic. Crowd numbers say I'm not alone.

Yeah you’re not alone. I think most on here have been with the club since day dot and go to games with others and know most of those they sit around by now. We had one week of good vibes now destroyed and today Everyone around me was saying It’s just getting harder and harder to justify the effort of coming. And these are the most rusted on.

If people like us are wearing down, can’t be long before there’s no one left at all.

What hurts the most is Wanderers weren't much chop today but we made them a 3 goal better team than us . For all the lack of quality and inexperience we dont have, there's just no ticker or real fight we only got going when we went behind and that pisses me off just no urgency and for me that's management.

The last 3 CCM goals have all been penalties. For all the analysis of what isn't working, it'd be amazing how much of this would be overlooked if there was just a player/ players in the squad capable of finishing the scoring opportunities that are created. I was fortunate enough to score two freebies as I walked up to the ticket office 5 minutes before the match started today. Getting to the point where if I don't score freebies, I'll go somewhere close by and watch the match on TV instead. Not really interested in spending money on home games as long as the people responsible are content to let this club tread water without a real ambition to be truly competitive.

Somebody earlier suggested a fans' boycott- we wouldn't be the first supporters' group to do this in the HAL, and it's at that point where it would be totally appropriate. This season is a success in that we've equalled last seasons' points tally, but if finals football hopes are done and dusted then I am expecting to see real improvement in what's left of the season, heading into 2020/21. Regardless of whether CCM finish 8th, 9th, 10th or last, if there's not clear ambition to do better next season, then it's time to vote with our feet- and wallets.

without any kind of front .the progress that's been made , is now lost .
we fluked a top shelf coach but with pennies in a game of millionaires .
our team has lost that belief . i said to mrs tb as we walked out .the crowd that are coming to see us are
oldies .
two of our crowd didn't come today
one of the regular punters wasn't there middy said as well.
thou i did get the meet ancient mariner , cheers

we are at the point of collapse .if we get flogged next week ,we're done

Great summary for mine. Completely agree that Oar and DDS are actually a big part of our problem. Only things I’m still not as convinced of, is A) that Jair is truly such a poor footballer. I thought he looked lively in his cameo and is decently sharp on the ball.

And B) Silvera..., I was a big fan and think there’s clearly talent there - and also think he could play central and maybe do a job for us - but last weeks performance now looks almost certainly to be attitude...and has seen him deservedly dumped from the squad.

If that’s true, then he needs a big adjustment before he deserves any more game time. That said, I’m all for redemption so if his head did go up his ass, and he can now pull it back out and is contrite, happy to see him get another chance.

Clisby is another Kennedy for me. Never want to see him in yellow again.

Funny but it’s not all about having 11 great players on the park, it’s also not being fooled and allowing any shit ones to pull the wool over your eyes and be the crucial weak link.

For Mariners, I lol back to our heat years and think at any one time we only really had 3 or 4 great players. A few good ones, and the rest were only average. But there was no one terrible, and everyone gave 1000 percent,

Thing is, year after year we’ve seen that you just can’t afford to have a single shit one. Let alone 3 or 4. And we haven’t had a season without at least 2 to 3 pretenders at least in our starting 11 since Arnie left,

This is so true. Forget the last goal - that will often happen when you are chasing a point. But the first three goals where all caused by defensive errors rather than good attack.
