ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It's funny, but had we been given that pen for that push on Simon early and scored, then I don't think we would have won - we probably would have played out the draw. We would have fired up as hard as we did late in the 2nd half.

Yeah that's probably true. Fight to win till the end and as tonight proves, anything can happen. It's got to be the mantra of any true underdog side like ours. Which is something Lawrie always got, and instilled.

Wee-Judas didn't have time to do much, but what he did do was so important. He was up in the box challenging for the ball & won the winning pen! The best bit of work he's done since he returned.

I thought we started 3-5-2 but Kim moved up to make it 4-4-2, at times it looked like 2-6-2 and scared me. I need to watch the replay to check.
Sometimes it seems to me that our structure is very fluid with players moving around freely. Quite often in defence midfielders are filling the role of fullbacks, covering for them when they get too far forward. It seems to work and allow the team to scramble well in defence but I fear it may be causing some of the need to scramble.
It could also explain why we can be slow in transitioning into attack, no one knows where players are expected to be.
Maybe someone with a keener eye to structure and a better understanding can explain it to me.

Muzza looked more dangerous tonight than he has since he joined the club. I think that's because Jair was there making sure the defence didn't gang up on him. Matty starting doesn't have the same impact because defences know Matty probably won't hurt them too much so they concentrate on Muzza. Jair, although he hasn't done much so far, WILL hurt them if they ignore him, thus taking some of the pressure off Muzza.

Great night on the bet:
- Dobras first goal scorer at $15
- Mariners draw HT, win FT at $9
- Rowles anytime scorer at $12 (ruled offside but then scored an oggy)
- Missed Stensness anytime yellow at $3.90.

And a Mariners win above all.

Deserved at least a point. Absolutely pumped first half but dominated second half. Dodgy penalty at the end should have been given earlier so it evened up.
i thought when stens hit one late for a instant i thought its going in

ps i put a 5er on tennessee in the nfl to win it @26
they beat the nfl favorite the ravens today and now 7 bucks

how good is 2020 shaping

I was very happy when he came on. I was getting very frustrated that every time the ball went to DDS our attack broke down.

Agrre completely. What Matty did putting two pressure pens away should not be discounted. But if he is only going to be on for 30 mins he needs to hassle the defence more. There is no point in Muzz chasing down a defender if there is another defender under no pressure from Matty.

Hmmmmmm...How to vote for player of the match. I think Matty deserves it for winning and slotting the penalties but then I’ll hate myself if we start him next week.

Ziggy maybe? He had a big game with a whole lot of important blocks.
the zig 3
simon 2
jair 1

Sorry FP but it looked to me like we played a 4-4-2 with a diamond formation this evening, certainly it was a back four anyway.

We were actually having this discussion in my bay... At times I thought it was a back four, one of our party though it was 4222, but it also shifted with Kim coming between the CB's and Miller and Oar pushing up field at times... That's when I thought we ended up being most exposed.

That or we were all tripping.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought I saw.

Definitely started as a 3-5-2 with Gordon, Kim and Rowles being the backs and in defence a 5-4-1 with Miller and Oar dropping back and Jair in midfield.

Have to watch a replay to see how it evolved.
