Rd 12 - NYE vs Perth

How did the officials and VAR miss Tommy's handball in the first few minutes? From where my family & I were standing, Blind Freddy on a galloping horse would've seen it. We dodged a bullet there, result could've been 4-zip.

Not the best way to end the year, but l wanna say happy new year to all that frequent the forum. It took me a little while to get on here regularly and it shouldn't have taken me so long to become a regular as l found a good community of people who ride the lows and some highs of supporting this damn club the exact same way l do. Hope everyone has a better year than the last and most of all, the RFS are heroes.

Lovely post Josh.

They didn’t miss it. Had a good look at it, Rules state if it deflects off the player and bounces into the arm it’s not hand ball.

No TV camera on that side. View was from behind Tommy so no obvious error as can’t see through him. Perth were adamant and who actually knows what the rules are but I’ll also go with FP’s answer

We just aren’t clinical enough with our finishing and with limited chances this kills us.

DDS had to score that first one and Murray the same.

Conceding on halftime was really bad and only castro scores that. One half chance and he nailed it.

There second goal was very good play and Oar actually tracks back well was just a very good goal.

Maybe Oar can call Fox back further to try cover

Ziggy well that was a reflection of the game. Mistakes by us vs great finishing by them

I thought we were very ordinary but if DDS scored it could have been a different game.

I thought Oar was terrible at LB........in fact Birazz was the only player i was happy with. Maybe GG would give us a bit more go forward than Stens. Milan and Kim were passable, everyone else was Gash.

I just felt we were outclassed. They were a class above last time we played them. I also thought we missed having Rowles and Kim in defence.

We are about three quality playes short to challenging the 6th. The difference between result driven squad to developing squad that's why the inconsistent and naive mistakes .

Miller had a decent second half but was stymied by a lack of forward support.
He actually dominated Meredith in front of us and is way better than than that other "Milla" guy'''

I think that is a touch negative. I would put it as we are about three quality players short to challenging the top 3 teams. Sydney, City and Perth have the quality. We now have a run of seven games where we don't play any of them. This period will define our season.

Don't get me wrong I'd be more than happy if we strengthened the squad but I see enough in our squad and really don't see anyone but the three above as being dominant.

He looks like a good prospect but does not look starting 11 quality atm. He does some great stuff but mixes in alot of rubbish as well. I agree he is a better defender that that Snake dickhead you spoke of.

I reckon you're right. An LB, a 9 and a 10.
I would like to see DDS pass and move more often than getting the ball and taking on 2 or 3 or more opposition. For him to do this he shouldn't play at 10.

I’d go as far as to say five players - LB, RB, CB, AM and FW. A serious top six side would have Miller and DDS on the bench, Oar playing higher and Jair not even in the squad.

Realistically, how much have we improved compared to the other clubs. I would say not much. We look better and fitter but our results don’t show us that.

You put Kennedy back in goals fir Birighitti and last night would 5+ and we would be stone motherless last.

Look at the investment Wellington have made to bring real quality in their front third and they are barely top six.

All this talk of being three players away from being dominant is adsurb.

Who said dominant? 3 players from top 6 competitive. At moment best result would be 7/8. 3 players might nab us 6.

Absolutely. Sydney, City and Perth will probably end up top 3. Adelaide and Phoenix I suspect will be 4 and 5.

Brisbane and Newcastle look to be 10 and 11.

That leaves Western United, WSW, Victory and us to fight for the 6 - 9. At the moment I think we would probably end up in front of Victory - so 8th is realistic and 6th optimistic (9 -11 pessimistic) . 3 of the right players in the right position would give us a realistic shot at 6th.

I'm not convinced that there will be anyone coming in in January but my main concern though is what else may happen during the window with Kim, Milan and Birraz in particular coming off contract and other clubs able to talk to them for next season. This season is supposed to be the rebuilding season for next season. I don't want next year to be the rebuilding season for the following season.
