Rd 12 - NYE vs Perth

I feel like the score line wasn’t a great reflection of the game. We weren’t dominated though they were clinical and we were anything but. Ziggys goal was a gift and horribly unlucky although they pressed well enough to take advantage. Bringing Simon on for Jair offered nothing and I would have rather let him run out the game. Bring one of the young attackers on instead if needed.

I'm sure Staj was thinking about how we're playing Wellington on Sat so would rather a bit of rest in some players

Aside from Birraz, nobody really showed up tonight, they looked like they were already on the beers for NYE.

First game in a long time i remember us losing not because we were the worse tea, but just because we misfired across the board and everybody had an off night

Simon is not the answer when you are behind.
Oar is a winger and is wasted as a fullback.
Kim's skills are wasted as a defender. I want to see him more involved in attack.
Silverra is not as effective against Aleague teams as he was in the Cup. Needs a year or two more experience.
The passing and ball control is neither quick enough nor precise enough.
I would like to see Nisbett get a run. Maybe it is too soon but we will not know if he does not get a go.
We need a left fullback.
Hopefully some of our dead wood will move in January and we can pick up some quality that is needed.
Happy new year.

Nah, we were worse by three goals. They were clinical, compact in defence and were really in second gear.

We were slow, unmotivated and disjointed. Tactically Staj was off for this one. Jair was garbage and can’t play as lone striker. He kept drifting left leaving us with nothing up front. Silvera needs some spells from the bench.

Djuric and Kim were a cut above and they won’t be here next season, as won’t Oar. Wasted at left back anyway.

Next season will continue to be rebuilding.

Had enough chances, just haven't had the polish. Perth have put theirs away, we haven't.

That's it in a nutshell. It really wasn't a 3-0 game. Danny should have score in the first minute and Muzz with his header. Not disgraced but still a deal of work to do.

Felt sorry for Ziggy with his 'Steve Gerrard' moment.

First of all, f*ck Perth haha. But it was a very good night in Bay 16. It was good to be working with the YA in chants. A little more communication between the groups is needed. Just for organisation purposes. But BOTH GROUPS did awesome tonight. Perth just really shit on our party tbh.

Again. Shoutout to Pete and Phil and Eggy for the helpful tips during the game. Onwards and Upwards.
Happy New Year everyone.

Score was not an accurate reflection of the game at all. But we have to convert our chances or there is no one we can blame but ourselves. And it’s not just the finishing, it’s also the final ball. Bottom line we still need a high quality striker to partner and compete with Jair. An LB and another winger I think.

Danny is a hard one for me, I love his skill on the ball and he can hold it up and link so well but he is not playing any of the killer balls nor scoring which is what we desperately need from our ten.

Silvera for mine is playing out of position and once his quality was found out is being monstered by opposing teams defenders, I think he needs to be central and or allowed to drift. Like DDS. I fear they may be similar to start together.

Positives, I actually thought quite a few of our passages of play were better than Perths and that we’re well on our way to becoming a good side once we cut loose our dead weight and upgrade.

Happy New Years everyone.

Kim was centre back one minute, then CAM the next.
When he stayed further back I felt we were more solid.

Our transition and ‘lay offs’ (Playing the way you face) in the general midfield was our best of the season.
However we are missing that final connection between cam & striker and the crosses were far from landing.

Overall our passing and confidence in passing crisp balls was really good in a football sense tonight.
Few mistakes obviously cost us and they always seem to be at bad times and especially going into half time with heads down and knowing we missed our chances.

If we make it to half time or score that early goal we would have had a good chance of holding out like Adelaide game.

Quality teams can fight back and change a deficit. But we really need to take our opportunities when we get them.

16 was good tonight, we turned up, shame no one except really Milan and Kim did on the pitch. Shite first touches from so many tonight, horrible stuff and passes that went more to the opposition than another yellow shirt. Very off night.

Anyway, the football was the only negative. It was good times in the bay and in Bay Rd too. Who cares about the football right? It's really all about the friends you made along the way.

it concerns me that of all our options we still look to Simon when we’re chasing goals. Where are the other options on the bench? A LB and winger would help a lot with depth and flexibility.

Disappointing result. The Perth goal just before half time was the killer as we had held them out playing into that southerly buster until then. The Ziggy slip up was bad luck.DDS worked hard but as usual no real end product.Duric and Kim played as true pros should and tried to hold the team together.I liked Kim's bicycle kick which nearly came off.Anyway Happy New Year to all.

Any time you lose a game by a three goal margin, that should encourage an honest look at both the tactics and performance of the team.

The boys huffed and puffed tonight but were never really able to exert control of the midfield and our attack was too weak to really threaten Perth’s strong backline for more than brief periods.

I think we really missed Kye’s presence tonight, particularly for the second goal, where Fox’s positioning left Oar to try to outjump Chianese. That was unlikely to ever end well for us unfortunately. The first goal was well taken but one of the smaller players should have been tasked with tracking Castro in our penalty area.

As for the third goal, well words pretty much fail me tbh.

The really worrying thing is that we were almost at full strength other than Rowles being out, so the Nix will be licking their lips right about now, especially with our boys having the short turnaround and travel to contend with.

Not the best way to end the year, but l wanna say happy new year to all that frequent the forum. It took me a little while to get on here regularly and it shouldn't have taken me so long to become a regular as l found a good community of people who ride the lows and some highs of supporting this damn club the exact same way l do. Hope everyone has a better year than the last and most of all, the RFS are heroes.
