Daniel DeSilva and Kye Rowles are both named for a return after they missed Saturday’s loss against Adelaide United in a massive boost for the Mariners, but the Mariners will be without top goalscorer Milan Ðurić after the Serbian midfielder was ruled out with a hip complaint.

Mario SHABOW, 26.Joshua NISBET, 27. Lewis MILLER, 29. Jair BRITTO **2-4 to be omitted**

WU could be vulnerable to our pace if we can get Oar or Silvera in behind Durante and they might have difficulty generally keeping up with a fast pace of play. But they're also a dangerous team and we can afford to be caught napping even outside the box, they don't mind a long range shot and some of them have been very good. 4-2-3-1 is the way to go IMO. 4-3-3 could work too but the front 3 will need to pull their weight when we are being attacked.

Danny and kye are massive in’s for us. Missing them last week showed how much kye has improved and how delicate our side is if an attacker like DDS misses out. Milan is obviously a huge loss but on the plus side it’ll give Kim his first start. I’ve been thinking our pace can exploit them too. Tough ask after 2 heavy losses. The boy’s seriously need to react and some steel.
I reckon we’ll line up:

Birra
Ziggy (does deserve a chance to react)
Ruon (fox being dragged tells me he ain’t starting)
Kye
Clisby (shouldn’t start but hatch isn’t ready yet)

Kim
Stens
Sammy
DDS
Tommy

Jair

No idea whether Kim will actually come in to start tbh, would be harsh to drop GG though.
Would be a bold call to start Jair who is coming into the side with no preseason behind him and zero match fitness.

yeah I actually thought about my Kim comment after posting. Neither GG or Stens really deserve to be dropped. But in saying that it’s been 2 heavy defeats. Kim would help us keep the ball that bit better. Something has to change ASAP so we continue to build toward something.
You’re probably right about Jair to be fair.

I don’t think Duric opens the door for Kim. If Kim starts it will be at the expense of GG or Stensness. GG has been directly responsible for 2 penalties now which might hurt him if there’s a battle for a spot.

As for Jair I’d imagine it’s going to be a case of either him or Murray starts and the other gets a run off the bench barring a major problem forcing alternative subs. Depends what kind of shape he’s in if we can squeeze an hour out of him or if he’s only good for 20-30 at the moment.

DDS straight swap for Milan I'd guess.
Rowles for Cisse 2.0
I worry that Kim hasnt got 90 minutes yet. Same with Jair

Jair has been training with the guys for a while hasn't he? If so, they're probably developing some touches together. Should be worth a start then. Won't do 90 just yet of course, match fitness only comes from matches.

Melling and Mcglinchey nowhere to be seen on the squad list this week. Nice to see Nizzy ahead of them in the pecking order

Yeah this also shows Staj is a good coach. He obviously came in thinking both these players, and Matty and Shamwow for that matter, could do a job but has clearly now seen he needs better.

With gg on the bench then coming on with fresh legs in the 60th or so

Over to staj

We really need to put pressure on with a goal or two early. So maybe if Jair started and grabbed one & maybe an assist, then Muzz on at 60 against tired defence could do some damage late.
I like your thinking but having not played for a year and a long season ahead . 30 minutes is more than Id like .
I reckon if we're in front .it wouldn't suprise me if he only came on in the 77 minute after a half hour walk to the side line from murray.

Yeah id like to have him start but Match fitness will take a little. Expect to see him at 60 minutes or so and Muzz will get another chance.
