The U23 squad dropped this evening and is relevant to our game with Adelaide. Notably Mcgree will play after missing selection due to an off field issue on their last away trip. None of our U23s like Rowles or DDS were selected although weemac will be playing for NZ.

OLYROOS SQUAD: Panos Armenakas, Keanu Baccus, Daniel Bouman, Jake Brimmer, Gabriel Cleur, Thomas Deng, Zach Duncan, Ben Folami, Alex Gersbach, Thomas Glover, Kosta Grozos, Jordan Holmes, Jacob Italiano, Anthony Kalik, Josh Laws, Daniel Margush, Connor Metcalfe, Tas Mourdoukoutas, Ramy Najjarine, Connor O'Toole, Nick Pennington, Reno Piscopo, Dylan Ryan, Al Hassan Toure, Harry Van Der Sag.

So McGree is suspended from playing for the Olyroos but can play against us on Saturday night? How does that work?
Isn’t McGree captain of the Olyroos as well?
Thinking about it now, wasn’t Lachlan Wales one of the Olyroos players investigated as well?

The suspension is Australian representative related not A League. Has nothing to do with Adelaide. The punishment was you arw not going to be selected for the next x number of games. Yes Lachie Wales was one and he is also not selected but irrelevant to our thread as it is Adelaide related as our next opponent

Fair enough. Some real grey area there in your thoughts but we agree to disagree.
What did they do then?
What’s with the hush hush & secrecy around this?

As Big Al said he’s not suspended just being left out of rep duties to remind him he’s replaceable and until whatever investigation is occurring has run it’s course. We’re just unlucky that means Adelaide will have one of their key players.

As far as what they did I’m not sure but they weren’t supposed to be going out partying at all, probably on safety grounds and they broke that rule. I haven’t seen any suggestion it was anything too sinister.

Wait a minute.
This happened back in March.
He is suspended otherwise the captain of the Olyroos would be selected.
If this is a serious incident and there actions whilst on National duty have brang the game into disrepute, he should be suspended from all football activity.

I disagree.
Uruguay’s Luis Suarez was banned for nine matches and for four months from any football-related activity for for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini in a World Cup match.

Anyway, sorry I’ve gone & said to much again. Like I’ve said before, my husband told me not to comment on the forum because I’m too passionate. Sorry again.
Let’s focus on Saturday nights game. I’ll do some baking on Friday & let everyone know my thoughts on the game but at the moment I’m really not sure about the result...

There is a difference between suspended and not selected. I suspect if there was a serious incident like drugs or a sexual assault then he would be suspended from all football activity, but if it’s just going out drinking when they were told not to or they got caught taking a piss in the alley behind a club and the FFA had to pay off some dodgy cops then dropping them for a few games sends the message not to get too big for their boots.

There’s no public information to suggest there’s anything going on other than putting them back in their place, it’s just unfortunate it strengthens our opponents this week.

"The investigation was initiated shortly after the complaint was received and, due to its complexity, took months to complete. The FFA board considered the findings of the investigation on October 3 and the board subsequently determined that the show-cause process should proceed."
Sounds like more then a piss in an alley...
Time will tell.

While im leaning to your piont in the story .
You've used the same excuse twice , Please don't .
Don't appologise either , unless you've killed someones dog or you said something nice about newcastle .
In truth the ffa banning a player from australia but allowing them to play for their club is weak indeed .

Carry on

If Oar is out then we might get to see Kim from the start? Could be interesting
Good chance melling would start if both dds and oar out as well .atleast he isn't gunna get pushed around .
I'd like to see tonyik start .to share a bit of ware and tear on rowles and foxie.

I’d like to see Kim get a start. But I’m personally very happy with GG and Stens. And obviously Duric has been our best player. I don’t think you can bring in Kim for Oar. Could for DDS and push Duric forward.

From what I have seen this season Nisbet is higher in the pecking order than Melling.

If Oar is out I suspect they will start a striker, probably Murray.

Agree. Kim to start and Stens to the bench.

In the time he’s had so far Kim hasn’t shown enough to take a spot from GG or Stensness IMO.

Stens has to stay on for mine.

His tactical fowling as teams have punched through the middle has been vital to the draw and the win we got.

He knows how to push players off the ball when they are on the counter without getting a yellow. And does it higher up the pitch before the free kick is in a dangerous position.

We need more players doing the same to break down play before in our defensive third.

I feel that a Duric was better as DM moving forward for long shots when we went wide and cut back.
Also believe the attacking 3 need more structure to hold the shape defensively better from the front.

When defending Murray should retreat to a 4-2-4 rather than chasing goalkeeper or fullback and make it a tighter sliding line from the front so they clear it rather than run through us.

Kim’s passing is also amazing and why not for through balls to a striker?

If Oar or DDS was injured for me I would try:

Ziggy——-Rowles——Fox/GG—-Clisby
—————Stens——-Duric—————
——Silvera———Kim———Oar———
——————— Murray———————

I like this lineup Ads.
I would take Fox out as he has cost us the last few games.
I would also bring Sammy off the bench for impact & start Majok on the right.

I ran some stats on the HAL website, there is very little between AU and CCM from a stats point of view so far this season. Game will probably turn on a piece of individual brilliance and unfortunately Troisi is looking a very good acquisition for them and filled the big whole in mid field. Will be close and very hard to call, hope we are fresh again and maybe make some strategic moves to freshen up the line up. Great to have a home game as it's been ages.
