Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

FFA Cup 2019

I am of the understanding that the club promised another former coach to be in Bay Rd and even confirmed this to only pull out this promise the last minute.

The Yelliw Army then rang Lawrie the day before the game as another former and he was happy to come.

I really love the passion and the time people have taken to write their posts. It is amazing and well thought out.

I don’t know what it is but I am not feeling the same level of disgust. I also feel it is a storm in a teacup.

I am, however, not denying anyone’s feeling of being upset. I can see the level of frustration and am confused why I am not feeling it as well.

I don’t hate but can see him being manipulative. Sackwacker, on the other hand, is there a bigger c**t than him?

FWIW Lawrie still loves this club and attends every home game he can.

He didn't just come on Wednesday night to promote the Jets.

He does his job well, respects the fans of both clubs and I invited him to Bay Rd because I know how much he loves our club and wants to see it do well.

Both clubs are trying to bring back the agro the derby used to have and quite frankly needs for it to be successful. Storm in a tea cup.

Great post Jimmy.

Judging by the over the top outrage shown by some posters here, Lawrie's banner was a great success and is having the desired effect.

But people should see it for what it was, which was a very good "gotcha".

Any dissent or public outrage only increases the success of the act.

The best response to these sorts of pranks is to quietly grind your teeth, smile and say "nice one Lawrie", buy him a beer and plan a suitable, even better response.

Hmmmmm, there was a time when the mere mention of the Jest was enough to raise major hackles but now it seems we just take it on the chin (or up the derrière) and the club’s incompetence gets yet another pass.

I get that there will seemingly always be a hard core of Lawrie defenders but personally, his behaviour since going to Scumcastle doesn’t sit well with me. If he still has genuine affection for CCM, he has a very strange way of showing it.

I am not looking to create a stir within our own fan base but I am honestly struggling with this one big time. Maybe we fans need to stop using the victim mentality too.

Can't speak for others but I've not had much time for Lawrie since he defected - but I don't see this as being a big deal, nor "taking it on the chin". I think most expect the club to return serve in some manner and time will tell if that's the case, but I think the response from some is overblown.

I don't think as fans we're taking the victim mentality either, but each to their own.

Well articulated.

Might just be that the team (actually the whole club) is so horrible over the last few years some are hoping for a revival and are prepared to accept any attempt, others like myself are frustrated and are maybe lashing out.

But as football people there is really no bigger disrespect. If we had a competitive team would it have been allowed in any form. I doubt it. Smells a little desperate to me but that’s probably were we are as a club.

Also previous errors over the last few years add up to make it look like incompetence instead of the so called promotion angle that’s being pushed. Had we not had these mistakes maybe people like myself could see the otherside ( I still can just strongly disagree).

Also some respect what Lawrie has done for the club and he can do no wrong. I respect that but Lawrie himself may have taken things to far by taking advantage of Shauns goodwill and eagerness to promote a derby that has died due to both teams being horrible at one stage during the last 10 yrs. personally i have arrived on the coast after Lawrie was gone so he doesn’t hold any goodwill with me so maybe i am harshest as I don’t have an understanding of who he used to be for the club.

Then say the YA are going to be pro Lawrie because he helps them out and comes on short notice to an event which is very good of him as well.

I suppose it will all be forgotten by Rd 1 and maybe that’s a good thing

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
So....laurie lied to Shaun about what they were gonna do, they werent involved in the match and the biggest tnuc ever to wear a scummer shirt was involved ....why shouldn’t we be f**king annoyed ?.

Who says he lied?

Shaun said he didn’t and never would have approved the pull over.

And if Lawrie just waved some flags or held up a little banner saying we’re gonna Beat you in the derby, no way we’re having this discussion.

I think Big Al probably nailed it re understandable frustration. Peoples good will is still pretty fragile for good reason.

For myself, I don’t like being successfully trolled by the scum, who does. But like Mick I just don’t feel particularly bothered by their little stunt. Not because I’m standing up for Lawrie, I don’t think he should have done what he did because the backlash is putting Shaun who acted in good will under serious fire.

Maybe Id be more pissed if I thought we weren’t going to beat the scum this year, but I think we are. I’m excited by the team and the club seems to be working hard, so I don’t really want the vibe going sour and the talk all being scandal when I think we’ve got the first good head of stream we’ve had in a very long while.

Lawrie didn't defect or snake us.
We told him he wasn't needed.
He needed a job, so he found it elsewhere.
He's doing his job up there like anyone else would do their job for their employer.

I despise the Jets. But not Lawrie.
That’s fair but that could also be why Lawrie takes it a little further as well as he possibly has some bitterness (we all would in his position). That makes him more dangerous because every one he gets over CCM may give him some satisfaction.

Also he walked through the front door as well, Shaun left it open and invited him in

My outrage is not directed at Lawrie and I'd hazard a guess that the reason why the long term members here are unfazed by it is because it is Lawrie that done it.
My outrage is with management for letting this happen. Sure they were unaware of the size of the sign but f**k me i guarantee not one other club will allow this to happen in there stadium while playing against another opponent let alone in another competition.

Lawrie retains a lot of credibility here and can be forgiven for almost anything, not because he was our first coach and is a good bloke but because without him we would not have a club.

He had been negotiating to form a club here before the A-League was mentioned. He, Alex Tobin and Ian Ferguson brought the core of Northern Spirit here to form the basis of our first team.

Like Jimmy, I despise the Jets, but never Lawrie.

For those that are interested in his story, Adrian Deans has written a great biography of him. He has also written a great ripping yarn football novel, "Mr Cleansheets". I recommend both.

I just don't have outrage at all.
Just another day for CCM....

Agree......i'm also told the club made promises to the have someone at the Bay Rd Brewery and pulled out 24hours before. Typical lame arse bullshit from the Mariners. i promised to be more positive this year so i will leave it there.

I walked past Sackwacker and Lawrie right after they pulled the stunt.......i was looking for a f**king bar to be open without 500 people in the queue.
Sackwacker was grinning like a girl and both were puffing like the overweight scummers that they are. I didnt react coz i like Lawrie and i had no idea they had just pulled a stunt. I was gonna call out to Lawrie about him losing weight but he was too confident high fiving with Mariners fans who still liked him so i stayed stuum. Wish i had seen the little stunt.....and could have made their evening a bit less pleasant.

Lawrie is a foundational Mariners legend in my books, and a solid, giving guy. He does love this club and it's fans and we're here at least partly because of him.

Which is what is leaving such a bitter taste in my mouth. There is now a clear pattern of him pulling down our pants and laughing whilst he publicly spanks our bottoms with a paddle - and all in the name of the scumming Jets.
F#*k him. He is not acting like a friend but like a bully who buys cheap laughs at his *friend's* expense.
Hand in hand with sackwhacker ffs.
Last straw.
The club simply can't trust him again. He has not acted in good faith, to our detriment, too many times in recent history.
