ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Away game venue discussion

Osc has contacted many venues over the years to organise away game venues. The problem is that to do it right for the fans we need to be in an area together like a function room so its either pay for the room or be ready to be booted if they get a paying function. Sports bars for afternoon games arent any good as the club/pub cater for the punters.

Its Woy woy.....so not ideal apart from our penisular people.

If you peeps are serious i could get one of the Thai restaurants in Gosso to put in some tv screens.

Right on the train line.

No offence Jim but if I want to watch a game slapped on a big screen in a room, drinking cans of beer, I can watch it at home.

If you guys are serious about the Bayview I will drop in and see the manager and see what he has to say and my guess the manager will want to talk to those wanting to organise it as a venue ... I'll see if I can set up a meeting... but is it a goer or a bit of kite flying.

PM me you are interesting is setting up a meeting and I'll see what I can do...

Open for debate guys ... maybe a chat on FB as well and see the interest...

Pros
Easy to find
On major train / bus & cab transport link.... i.e the boys in blue if you are over the limit
Heaps of parking reasonably close.
Plenty of places to eat locally to suit all budgets from a bag of chips to fancy Italian.
The Bayview itself has a decent menu.

Cons
At the southern end of the Coast and those around the Entrance Wyong etc its a bit of a hike ...from Gosford roughly 15 to 20 minutes on a good run [car]
Do they have an area they could dedicate to us... they do have a sports bar ... depends on how many folk we are talking about

Bayview would be too far for most of the people I know who are bothered to watch away games.

Still can’t believe Mingara who are not a leagues club - can’t see value in being the official away day venue.

Mingara has no public transport. Someone has to drive.

I think I'll split some of this conversation out to a new thread when I get a minute - I don't think away game venues is exclusive to active support. The group may organise it but it generally is for all Mariners fans to attend.

I live in the southern part of the peninsula so Woy Woy would be great for me.
However I realise that would mean traveling for some people so no good.
Likewise if it was anywhere north of Gosford I wouldn't bother.
Mingara would definitely be no good. I 'd rather sit at home and drink my homebrew.

I used to go to the Ettalong Diggers, but had the same problem as other places.
Big screen only available when nothing else was on. Three blokes watching a rerun of a 1987 one day cricket international took priority.
Told by the staff it was a leagues club. Asked to leave when I pointed out it was a memorial club.
Finally called it a day when watching a Friday early KO from New Zealand.
Told to move as I was sitting in someones seat. "We always sit here on a Friday".
Then he asked if I knew who he was. No I didn't. Apparently a director of the club.
That was a real shame. There used to be 20 or so watching the games and over a period
of time as they made it harder and harder to watch the numbers dwindled.

^^^^^^^
PP similar experiences at Ettalong Diggers ... I remember once when the Socceroo where playing a WCQ and over 100 people turned up many in green and gold ... anywho there was a cricket match between India & WI on with no one watching ... club staff insisted they had a contract saying they had to show the cricket...

My read was staff were told that by senior management but its pure BS .....

Naturally we`d all like it closer to home but some consideration has to be made.
Gosford seems like the natural place as we all go to home games so it makes sense.
I`n my case i`m at Wamberal and Dad is at Lake Munmorah so Tuggerah would be ok.
COE maybe? Would the players lounge be big enough?
What about the house/shed next to the original training field?
Or maybe the club could get something built quickly eg. a shed that could become a supporters base.
We could put in a bar and tv. sell the beers and all that goes with it and with the profits eventually add toilets etc.
A basic suitable shed would cost about $30,000-.
It could even become part of the supporters club and funds could be raised through raffles at games etc:popcorn:

Would people be happy with multiple venues being nominated? The Coast covers a pretty big area, anything south is a hassle to get to from the north, and vice versa.

This would be pretty cool though ^^

I like the premise since that is where the club envisions us for away days eventually. Starting the tradition at the COE has real merit. Not sure about selling beer. I gather the OSC has a limited liquor license so it can be done.

Maybe club investors would be interested in looking at a bar in Gosford as well as hotels/etc they seem keen on. That would cover off pre-game and away days in one hit.
