ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

There is no doubt that the whole vibe in CCS has been hugely impacted by the team’s fortunes over the past 5 or 6 seasons and that is totally understandable. Any team can have periods of difficulty on the pitch from time to time but we all know that CCM’s fortunes have been dictated by our owner’s overly-parsimonious approach to running the club and so that is hard to take for most fans.

I would agree with the comment that it is sometimes hard to hear what is being chanted/sung from Bay 16 but that’s not the fault of those individuals, as the lack of a roof in that area often means much of the sound just goes straight up or worse, backwards if the wind is from the south.

As much as I appreciate how hard active support is for those driving it every game day (especially given our club’s performances in recent times), I can still recall when YA were great fun to be around, especially at away games. Their chants were more often than not creative and funny and made you want to join in, even if you were personally normally of a more reserved nature.

I for one really hope that Staj can turn around the team’s fortunes on the field and restore some pride to our club and that will in turn hopefully lead to a re-engagement with all fans, active or otherwise.

Is it 7 wins in the past 2.5 years or some such? I mean, that really pushes “ you only sing when you’re winning” to new levels.

Impossible to have seen an active support thrive and grow in the past 5 years. The fact we had one at all, let alone who I thought did a great job with such limited numbers and so little to work with is a real testament to all who have been involved.

Heavy torch (even heavier mega) to carry though. So rejuvenation is good. And whoever is in there doing the hard yards, (unless they start being wannabe ultras or something ) will always have my support.
Hoping Coastie Crew can do a great job and become very successful.

But imho anyone hoping to be successful right now will need great leadership and people skills to have any chance. Otherwise, you’d have to think we’d need to at least win the majority of our home games to be able to create enough basic enthusiasm to leverage new recruits into the bay.

In short, if we’re not winning, and the bay doesn’t look like it’s a cohesive unit and a hell of a lot of fun, then virtually impossible to grow it unless you’re Anthony bloody Robbins.

If it’s another season like the past 4... might as we’ll join the crusty die hards at the back and just have fun slinging shit. Won’t be anything else to take joy from.

Important year for us. I think Staj is the man. But another shit year might destroy our membership base irrevocably.

Agree with all that's been said - although the interactions we've seen with that mob on here so far have far from shown them in a positive light.
I'm slightly amused that we're all talking about them in this thread, but they themselves can't be bothered engaging on here (I'm not counting abuse and lies from that marinerschick engaging....nor that other trolling idiot with the account that started all this). Sooo....I'm all for somebody wanting to rejuvenate active support, but my opinion of CC isn't high to date - and tbh, if this has all been indicative of how they approach things then I'll be very, very surprised if they get anywhere.

It's a tough gig trying to get active support going. Since the heady days of the Marinators when we filled Bay 16 and spilled over into 15 and 17 it's been hard to get the numbers. It's a pity, and I wonder if there's something particular about the coast and its demographics that hinders this.

Hey mate, the Coastie Crew as a group is and always will be professional when it comes to interacting with other fans. The opinions of individuals who have nothing to do with the group don’t reflect the opinions of our group, no 1 person represents the Coastie Crew.

Well that makes it so much better

Went over to bay 16 a few times over the season to try to lend my voice but it felt like two disjointed groups with the guys up the back doing their own thing and the young blokes at the front trying but not getting much going. Not an attack on anyone there but it’ll never grow if that’s the vibe of the bay.

TBF, Justin and his boys were just a bit too young and lightweight to lead the bay last year.
They are great supporters and I hope they can grow into the role. But for those little boys to be taking potshots at Pete is crazy.
They also went missing as the season went on leaving only the gnarly old bastards at the back of Bay 16 to represent.
But I salute them, I like their courage but they have along way to go.

Hey mate, it wasn't me taking the potshot's at Pete, i respect everything he has done for the bay over the years. Lets face it, being capo takes balls. Especially when we're losing. I respect everything Pete and the others have done. Just want to clear that up :)

Good to hear mate.

Also good to see you put a leash on your sister and that she doesn’t represent the views of the group.

It should just die out on its own unless anyone thinks there is any more discussion worth having.
Happy to close it though if that's what we want.

Leave it open.

Bitter chick aside these kids will be throwing themselves out there game day and at least need some support from us. The team, if they put in, deserve that.

I will be doing my best to support them from the back of the bay if they don’t choose to alienate themselves from everyone. The ball is really in their court on what their values and behaviours are.
